For those who don’t know, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is designed as a chauffeur-driven vehicle and comes with a voice amplification system, a function that makes it easier to communicate with the rear passengers from the front.

The Mercedes-Maybach S600 is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 engine that generates 455 hp (335 kW) at 5,250-5,500 rpm as well as 700 Nm of torque between 1,800-3,500 rpm. This model is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5 seconds, while top speed is 250 km/h or 155 mph.

Despite these performances, fuel consumption is 8.9 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 207 g/km. The Mercedes-Maybach uses a 6.0-liter V12 engine that generates 530 hp (390 kW) at 4,900-5,300 rpm and 830 Nm of torque between 1,900-4,000 rpm.

This model sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.0 seconds, with a top speed limited at 250 km/h or 155 mph. Fuel consumption is 11.7 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 274 g/km. With a length of 5453 mm and a wheelbase of 3365 mm, the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz model range is 20 cm larger in both dimensions than the S-Class saloon fitted with a long-wheelbase.

Exterior Design

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class combines perfectly the exclusivity offered by the Maybach with that of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. There is no doubt that models from Mercedes-Maybach best exemplify peerless exclusivity. This new model comes with a number of features that allow it to be differentiated from the production versions. There is for instance the additional space that comes with the luxuriously design and prestigious interiors.

Further, the interior allows customers to choose from a wide range of individualization. Because of this, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is able to meet the needs of even the most discerning of customers, no matter where they are in the world. On the outside, the new model has that trend-setting exclusivity mixed in with effortless and stylish superiority. Indeed, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is able to make that contemporary luxury come alive in a rather exceptional manner.

The extended wheelbase, combined with emphatic lines, hints at dynamism and power. With the special design implemented on the sidewall, the characteristic design elements that the S-Class is known for are kept like the dome-shaped and sweeping roofline. As it relates to the interior, occupants will be glad to know that the wind noise’s level is truly low, better than even the S-Class Coupé, considered as one of the world’s quietest cars.

What makes this surprising is that the noise level is low even with the large windows in the rear. For those sitting in the rear, they may realize that this new model is the quietest production saloon car on the planet. It is worth noting that the Mercedes-Maybach cannot be considered as an equipment line. Rather, it is a sub-brand that Mercedes-Benz believes will provide it in the future with models having a more exclusive form.

Mercedes-Maybach will be the second sub-brand after Mercedes-AMG. These sub-brands allow for exclusivity and prestige and are targeted at customers that put premium on status. Of the different models, the one on top is the S 600. Fitted to it is the bi-turbo V12 engine capable of 530 hp (390 kW). Given that it has a 5,980 cc displacement, peak torque is at 830 Nm and already accessible beginning at 1,900 rpm.

For the S 500, it will come with the bi-turbo V8 engine and can deliver 455 hp (335 kW) with a displacement measured at 4,663 cc, and top torque of 700 Nm. NEDC combined fuel consumption, for premium petrol, is at 8.9 liters/100kn with CO2 emissions measured to be 207 g/km. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is set to be launched to the market on February 2015. The Mercedes-Maybach S 500 4MATIC on the other hand will be available beginning June 2015.
