2015 Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary Edition launched in Japan

Article by Christian A., on November 26, 2014

Especially for the Japanese market, Nissan announced the GT-R 45th Anniversary Edition, an exclusive version that will go on sale in early February 2015. What’s more interesting is that the edition will see only 45 units built, each carrying a special paint color called ‘Silica Brass’ a.k.a. the same trademark color featured on the Skyline GT-R M-Spec (R34 Type).

According to Nissan, the GT-R 45th Anniversary Edition will be available only in the Premium Edition trim level and in order to be distinguished from the standard model will feature an exclusive emblem on the lower part of the interior center cluster as well as an exclusive model plate number in the engine compartment.

The special edition model will cost 10,787,040 yen or a 73,300 euros/$91,500.

The vehicle will carry the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged 24-valve V6 engine that delivers 545 hp, bolted to the 6-speed sequential dual-clutch transmission that shifts as quickly as 0.15 seconds when in R-Mode. The engine enables the Nissan GT-R to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 3 seconds.

For the 2014 model year, the Nissan GT-R retains its dramatic styling, with every aspect designed to optimize the driving experience while conveying its spectacular performance at par with a supercar.

As before, the hybrid body construction of the Nissan GT-R makes use of a combination of steel, carbon fiber as well as die-cast aluminum – the carmaker’s not-so-secret formula to deliver a unique level of lightness, stiffness and precision. The body has a low coefficient of drag value of 0.26 Cd, allowing it to achieve high front and rear downforce.

While the front fenders of the Nissan GT-R convey power and stability, the "aero-blades" on their edges allow for optimal airflow along the body and around the tires. Likewise, the vents in the trailing edges of the fenders help optimize side airflow while generating front downforce. The large bulge on the bonnet and larger central air intake helps provide undisturbed airflow. Meanwhile, the "super wide beam" of the new GT-R headlights comes with three additional sub-reflectors for a wider illumination spread.

The car retains its distinctive GT-R identity and offers optimal airflow around its rear end, as made possible by its sloping "aero blade canopy" roofline and a curved C-pillar "sword edge." Just like before, the rear end is marked by the signature hallmark four-ring taillights, as complemented by the integrated quad exhaust tips, rear spoiler, functional rear carbon fiber underbody diffuser and rear venting.
