Nissan Motor Co. has unveiled the sportiest version so far of the Nissan Note – the new Note Nismo. The Japanese carmaker has disclosed that it will implement a minor model tweak on the Fairlady Nismo and add a new Nismo RS grade to the Juke Nismo in the fall of 2014.

Since introducing the Juke Nismo in February 2013, Nissan’s specialty division Nismo has been adding more vehicles to its stable. After the Juke Nismo, Nismo added the March Nismo, Fairlady Z Nismo and Nissan GT-R Nismo. Now, a Nismo model is joining the lineup of vehicles injected with the sportiness that Nismo gained from its motorsports activities – the new Note Nismo. Nissan is planning to release the new Note Nismo to the market also in the fall of 2014.

The Note Nismo is the fifth Nissan model marketed under the revived Nismo production-car banner. When launched, the Note Nismo will be available in two grades – the standard Note Nismo and the sportier Note Nismo S, allowing Nissan to cater to the demands of both sports driving enthusiasts and hardcore motorsports fans.

The standard Note Nismo is targeted towards customers who wanted to experience a spirited drive, but still have high regard for fuel efficiency. The Note Nismo S, meanwhile, is targeted towards customers who want a high-performance ride that would allow them to experience the product of Nismo's motorsports heritage.

Shoichi Miyatani, president and chief executive of Nissan Motorsports International (NISMO), remarked that as part of the celebrations for Nismo's 30th anniversary, they plan to expand the number of available models. He called the new Note Nismo as symbolic to the Nismo brand as it embodies the fusion between Nismo’s motorsports DNA and the sales success of the Note. Miyatani said that Nismo is striving to offer an entirely new level of excitement with the Note Nismo, which would allow them to spread the spirit of Nismo to new consumers while growing its existing customer base.

Hiroshi Tamura, Nismo's Chief Product Specialist, quipped that the development concept of the new Note Nismo was to create a car that customers want to continue driving. He remarked that Nismo is confident that the Note Nismo will enhance one’s driving experience by offering top-level performance in a compact package.

The new Note Nismo offers a high level performance with flawless overall balance. This is thanks to the fact that the powertrain, chassis, suspension and tire as well as aerodynamic technologies of the new Note Nismo are derived from Nismo's experience in motorsports. Meanwhile, the Note Nismo S is powered by a tuned engine boasting of a lot of low-end torque, as sent to the wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.

In addition, the already stunning Note is made more striking through Nismo styling as accentuated with Nismo Red. The exterior of the new Note Nismo is marked by a custom front grille, side sill protectors, roof spoiler, front and rear bumpers, as well as the Nismo Red electronic folding side mirrors and the custom Nismo badge.

Furthermore, the new Nissan Nismo boasts of enforced body rigidity and smooth engine performance – something that could only be attained from a factory-tuned vehicle. As standard, the Note Nismo S comes with custom sports seats, which are offered as optional equipment as on the Note Nismo. Nismo Recaro sports bucket seats could also be availed as a factory option on the Note Nismo S.
