The 2015 VW Touareg Facelift not only received an updated design but also an upgraded V6 diesel engine. According to the German manufacturer, over 90 percent of all Touareg models sold in Europe are equipped with a V6 TDI engine and as a result, Volkswagen modified and upgraded the engine by adding an SCR catalytic converter.
Thanks to the new catalytic converter the engine meets the Euro 6 emissions standard. Volkswagen offers two versions of the V6 TDI engine. The first one delivers 204 hp (150 kW) and due to the addition of the standard 8-speed automatic transmission, fuel consumption was reduced from 7.0 to 6.6 liters of diesel per 100 km, with CO2 emissions of 173 g/km.
The second version of the V6 TDI engine was boosted from 245 hp (180 kW) to 262 hp (193 kW) and thanks to the new 8-speed transmission fuel consumption falls from 7.2 to 6.6 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 174 g/km of CO2.
The Touareg Tech version arrives the same V6 TDI engine developing 262 hp (193 kW) as well as with special off-road applications and the all-wheel-drive system with low range set of gear ratios, designed for demanding off-road conditions. Fuel consumption of this version also dropped from 7.3 to 6.9 l/100 km.
