Cadillac’s dealerships in the U.S. can now take your orders for the next-generation 2016 CTS-V, which is set to be launched in the later part of summer with a starting price of $83,995. The all-new 640hp high-performance sedan is the first of two V-series models to arrive in the market this year. It comes after the more compact ATS-V coupe and sedan, which is set to be launched in late spring.
The new 2016 V-Series models signify a major expansion of Cadillac’s exclusive high-performance line. The new V-Series cars can also now attract a wider range of drivers by showing off two separate personalities, price ranges, and size categories. The CTS-V can accelerate from zero to 60 in 3.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 200mph, earning it the title of the most powerful car ever in Cadillac’s history.
Dealers are now ready to take orders for the 2016 CTS-V. For more information, go to Cadillac.com. Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen said that the V-Series stands for the “pinnacle” of the brand, which is now capable of making cars “at the highest level.”
He went on to describe the new CTS-V as two cars in one because it is both a sophisticated luxury sedan and a high-performing sports car that can track. He said that this car is exclusive as very few can possess this level of “incredible capability.”
The V-series cars can match or exceed the finest elite vehicles but they’re more accessible. The 2016 CTS-V has many standard features and engineering advancements – one of which is the third-generation Magnetic Ride Control, a suspension technology that boasts of being the world’s fastest reacting. It is available exclusively in this segment.
The car is equipped with a carbon fiber hood, a set of 19-inch wheels covered with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, Brembo brakes, driver-selectable modes for touring, sport and track driving conditions, and top-performing sueded microfiber accents and matte-finish carbon fiber trim. The CTS-V is powered by a 6.2L supercharged V-8 and an eight-speed automatic transmission that provides full manual control via steering wheel paddles.
It offers more horsepower (640 hp/477 kW) and more torque (630 lb-ft/855 Nm) than the Mercedes-Benz 5.5L biturbo V-8 and the BMW M-series 4.4L TwinPower V-8.
The smaller ATS-V will be launched before the CTS-V. The ATS-V is also track-capable and delivers 464hp. It features the exclusive Cadillac Twin Turbo V-6 that enables it to accelerate from a standstill to 60 in only 3.9 seconds. With a starting price of $60,465, the 2016 ATS-V offers high-performance capability in both coupe and sedan versions. [source: Cadillac]
