As announced by Chevrolet, the 2016 Trax Midnight Edition is being introduced with an all new in-vogue look in bold black. This small SUV with a new style statement is bound to be a favourite among its customers and is expected to continue to boost crossover sales, which soar to a record high in 2015.
On the outside, the Midnight Edition follows the LTZ trim and is equipped with black wheels, beltline molding, bezels and door handles, and has the rear license plate in black appliqué too. Similarly, the interiors feature seats trimmed with gray accents and gray piping on the floor mats too.
Senior Marketing Manager of Chevrolet Crossovers, Betsy Flegg, has acknowledged the fact that the Trax has quickly gained an important place in Chevrolet sales by attracting newer, younger and more female customers. Though introduced a year ago, this small SUV already occupies a leading place in the fast growing small SUV segment.
With the 2016 Trax Midnight Edition, customers get an expressive option. In 2015, 57,707 Trax units were sold in the first 11 months. Hence, it took the second place in its segment by holding 20 percent of the total market share. Chevrolet crossover sales for the same period were also up by 35 percent.
The Trax model amazingly offers the utility space of an SUV along with the agility of a small car. The vehicle has a cargo space of 48.4 cubic feet along with a 1.4L turbocharged engine that is an efficient small displacement engine with an EPA-estimated 34 mpg highway (for FWD models) and also offers the power of a bigger engine as demanded.
Enhanced connectivity features like a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot have also been incorporated. Trax is also joined by a complete range of Chevy SUVs and crossovers like the Traverse, Equinox, Tahoe and Suburban. Customers will be able to buy the Trax Midnight Edition from February 2016 onwards for a $500 package price over the suggested price for Trax LTZ which is priced at $26,125.
The MSRP excludes tax, title and other dealer fees but includes the destination charge. Chevrolet, originally founded in Detroit in 1911, is now doing business in over 115 countries. It sells around 4.8 million cars and trucks each year and is one of the biggest car brands in the world.
