2016 Infiniti Q70 U.S. pricing announced

Article by Christian A., on January 20, 2016

Infiniti has released the pricing details of three models: 2016 Infiniti Q70, 2016 Infiniti Q70 Hybrid and 2016 Infiniti Q70L. The price is the same as that of the 2015 models and even includes the complimentary Premium Package, valued at $4,200. Similar to the previous year, the Q70L has its wheelbase extended but it is still $1,500 more than the Q70.

With nine models to choose from, the lineup of the 2016 Q70 is available on sale at various Infiniti retailers across the country. The 2016 Q70 now has a Premium Select Edition that manages to combine an interior and exterior finish with sportier style and more luxurious content.

This Premium Select Edition however will only be available on the wheelbase Q70 3.7 model and the Q70 5.6 model. This is being offered at an amount of $3,300 more than the MSRPs of the Q70 3.7 and 5.6 all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive models.

Under the Premium Select Edition, the cars come with an exterior that carries a dark chrome trim. It has a rear spoiler and the rear bumper finisher has not only been lowered but darkened as well. There is the standard Sport Brakes though the 20-inch wheels have been been finished in dark chrome.

For its interior, the Premium Select Edition gives the option of two colors for its semi-aniline leather: Graphite and Stone. The seat piping contrasts the color of the leather and it has the suede-like headliner and the aluminum trim that has been exclusively laser-etched. While the kick plates are now illuminated, the floor mats contrast with the aluminium badging and the piping.

The Infiniti Q70 has everything one can expect from Infiniti when it comes to the craftsmanship, luxury, performance, style, and technology.

Exterior Design

One of the most recognizable features of the Q70’s exterior is the trademarked LED headlights, which hints of an inner intelligence and a yearning to make a lasting first impression.

The double arch grille is highlighted through the headlights and gives it a more three-dimensional appearance. This look is also due to the level of detail on its waved mesh finish and its chrome surround.

This feel can also be seen through the front bumper and with the LED fog lights integrated to it, gives the Q70 that grand presence. Its sporty look is highlighted by the combination of LED lights on its rear. However, since it has a chrome rear finisher, it results giving the rear view that needed touch of class.

The features of the exterior do not end there. The LED headlights for example can be automatically turned on or off and it has a windshield wiper interlock. Its moonroof allows for one-touch open and close of its sliding tinted glass.

Q70 also offers a sliding sunshade and tilt feature. Other features include the heated outside mirrors with power-folding and integrated with the LED turn signal. The LED turn signal even has a tilt-down reverse feature.

Front windshield wipers come with rain-sensing features while the outside door handles have courtesy lamps integrated to it. The rear window has a defroster with a timer, as well as polished tips and auto-trunk cincher on its dual exhaust.

The company offers the Technology Package that has the auto-leveling headlights with the Adaptive Front lighting System. The Sport Package, on the other hand, has a unique front bumper that results in giving it a wider and lower stance, in addition to the 20-inch wheels and its tires.

Interior Design

The interior meanwhile makes use of high quality materials like Japanese Ash wood trim. Attention to detail is also obvious and the technologies used are user-centered.

As a result, the features of the interior reflect the lines of its exterior. As with any Infiniti model, it has the Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, HomeLink Universal Transceiver, Intelligent Key with Illuminated Push Button Ignition, and even the RearView Monitor.

Other features of the interior are the power windows that allows for the one-touch up or down and the auto-reverse feature. The door has power locks and includes automatic locking. There are also other accessories that have been maintained for the moonroof, power windows, and the 6-speaker audio system.

All of the 2015 Q70 models come equipped with the standard Active Noise Control. What this system does is that through the use of two microphones in the ceiling, it motors the noise levels in the cabin and then creates a "canceling" sound to lower any unpleasant noise from the engine through the four door speakers.

Meanwhile, for those that have the Bose sound system, the subwoofer does the trick. The Q70 has long been known to have a large interior. However the Q70L has an extra 5.9 inches which increase the space on the rear compared to its competitors.

Additionally, for the Q70L, the rear knee room measures 32.5 inches while the legroom offers 41.8 inches. As a result, passengers in the rear can even cross their legs without feeling uncomfortable. It is also easier to get in and out of the back, ideal for taller passengers.

Q70 also offers in the rear section reading lights, door auto close, and a 12-volt power outlet. For those who want to have rear heated seats, it can be availed by getting the Premium Package.

Powering both the Q70 3.7 and the Q70L 3.7 is a 3.7-liter V6 engine that can deliver 330 horsepower. Similarly, both the Q70 5.6 and the Q70L 5.6 are powered by the same engine -- a 5.6-liter V8. The difference is that the Q70 version can provide 420 horsepower while the Q70L gives 416 horsepower.

All of the Q70 models come with the standard 7-speed automatic transmission. At the heart of the rear-wheel drive 2015 Q70 Hybrid is the Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid system. This is a two-clutch and one motor parallel hybrid system that uses a high-speed motor control technology.

This technology is powered by a Lithium-ion battery that immediately goes to its 7-speed automatic transmission. The driving performance of the Infiniti Q70 Hybrid is mostly due to the 24 valve DOHC 3.5-liter V6 engine that when combined with its 50 kW electric motor, results in a total power for this hybrid system of 360 horsepower.

While the power is indeed impressive, the torque is just as notable. The V6 engine offers 258 lb.-ft. of torque while the electric motor gives 214 lb.-ft. of torque that when combined, gives a truly strong performance.

The standard and long wheelbase models of the Q70 3.7 and 5.6 come with either the rear-wheel drive or the brand’s own Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system.

According to the American company, the 2016 Infiniti Q70 3.7 starts at $49,850 USD, while $52,000 USD. The 2016 Infiniti Q70 5.6 costs $62,850 USD and $65,350 USD with AWD. The Q70 Hybrid comes with a $55,900 USD price tag.

The 2016 Infiniti Q70L 3.7 starts at $51,350 USD, with the AWD version priced at $53,500 USD. In addition, the 2016 Infiniti Q70L 5.6 is priced from $64,550 USD, while the all-wheel drive version costs $67,050 USD. Prices do not include the $905 destination and handling fee.
