People who have been waiting to buy the new 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe can now pre-order their units. The car carries a price tag that starts at £30,955 OTR. The first units will be delivered to buyers in the UK in December.
The new C-Class Coupe continues the innovations introduced in the C-Class Saloon and Estate. There will be two models. Buyers can also choose between four engines. The first is the C 200 petrol engine, which has a horsepower rating of 184 hp.
It comes in two variants: a six-speed manual (123 g/km of CO2) version or the 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic gearbox (125 g/km). There’s also the C 300 engine, which has a horsepower rating of 245 hp. It has no manual option, however.
Its 7G-Tronic gearbox has CO2 emission levels of 146 g/km. Drivers who prefer diesel can choose between the C 220 d and the C 250 d. With a horsepower of 170 hp, the C 220 d can be fitted with two transmissions. One is a six-speed manual transmission with CO2 emissions of 106 g/km.
There is also the 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic gearbox with CO2 emissions of 106 g/km. On the other hand, the C 250 d has a horsepower of 204 hp. Like the C 300, it only comes with an automatic gearbox, the 9G-Tronic with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km.
The new C-Class Coupe comes in the Sport and AMG Line versions. Both models will have light emitting diodes for both rear and head lights. They also feature Active Park Assist technology using PARKTRONIC parking sensor as well as a rear camera that can be used when rear parking.
In the interior, one can find sports seats made with ARTICO upholstery. The front seats also include a heating system. In the dashboard, one can find a 7-inch color screen. The mirrors of the C-Class Coupe can be folded using electrical power at the touch of a switch.
Other technologies include a Garmin navigation and a Collision Prevention Assist Plus automatic braking system. If one chooses a C 300 engine, they will also be getting a sports exhaust system with switchable sound. The Sport model can be distinguished from the AMG Line version through its gloss back interior trim.
The doors also have aluminum inlays. Other features include 17-inch alloy wheels, as well as a diamond grill accentuated with black-painted pins. On the other hand, the AMG Line boasts of a flat-bottomed AMG sports steering wheel as well as brushed sports pedals. The roof has black lining, and the car’s trim is of black ash wood.
The AMG Line also has 18-inch five spoke alloy wheels, and 15mm lowered sports suspension. Just like the Sport model, it has a diamond grille but with chrome pins instead.
For packaging options, buyers can choose between Premium and Premium Plus. The first package costs £1,695. In return for that additional fee, one can get a panoramic glass roof for the car. The package also enables seat memory and ambient lighting, together with keyless go capabilities.
The second package includes all that but also gives the driver a Burmester surround sound system and COMAND online with 8-inch screen. The Premium Plus Package is priced at £2,995. Buyers might also want to think about the Driver’s Assistance Package.
The package adds DISTRONIC Plus, which gives drivers access to adaptive cruise control capabilities. It also comes with Active blind spot and lane-keeping assist as well as an anticipatory safety system that can prevent collisions with pedestrians.
There is also the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe, which has a 4.0 litre bi-turbo V8 engine. It is priced at £61,160, and comes with a proprietary AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed automatic gearbox. The setup delivers 476 hp and 650 Nm. It takes the C 63 Coupe just 4.0 seconds to go from standstill to 62 miles per hour!
It’s only slightly surpassed by the 66,910 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S, which takes only 3.9 seconds to accelerate to this speed because of its 510 hp and 700 Nm capabilities. The C 63 S is priced at £66,910.
The new cars are joined by a C 63 S Edition 1. This is a limited edition model that boasts of an AMG aerodynamic package, customized 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels. In the interior, the car sports diamond-stitched nappa leather upholstery with contrasting yellow stitching.
The interior’s trim is made of carbon fiber material. The bonnet, roof and sides feature graphite AMG decals. A price tag of £76,900 is attached to this limited edition model.
Plus, buyers can get the Edition 1 motorsport package for an additional £3,000. The package includes yellow AMG decals, designo selenite grey magno paint, AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system and exclusive 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels with yellow detailing.
