Ford F250 MegaRaptor conversion comes with 46-inch tires for some serious off-roading

Step aside Chevy Colorado ZR2, off-roading has now been taken to the next level with the unveiling of converted heavy-duty off roaders named the “MegaRaptor” and “SuperRaptor”. We think it’s awesome that it sounds like a character from a Japanese science fiction movie or Transformers.

We’ve seen the 2017 Ford-150 Raptor, and some of us would consider that model a monster truck, with its 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged V6 and 450 horsepower. However, for some, that still isn’t enough of a monster - which is why the Mega- and SuperRaptors are here.

Jeremy Dixon of F250R, based in Tucson, Arizona is the man who thought of this insane but enviable plan. He says that the custom bodywork can be done on any 2005 - 2016 F-250s pickup trucks. His team gave 46 inch tires to the MegaRaptor and 40 inch tires for the SuperRaptor. According to Drive, that’s the primary difference between the two models. says that it doesn’t have to be a new truck as they can customize any super duty Ford pickup. To start off, it will get a 6.7 liter PowerStroke V8 engine under the hood, which delivers 440 horsepower and 925 pound-feet of torque. But if that’s not enough, then you can opt for an additional exhaust package that will add another 140 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque, giving it a total of 580 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque.

F250R will widen the stance, lift the overall ground clearance, but still retain a low center of gravity for the truck. The hood and fenders will have to come off and be replaced with custom fiberglass panels that give you a more aggressive hood and bigger fenders. To access the engine and the front suspension quickly, F250R adds a forward-opening steel frame for an easier opening. The bed will then be retained but will be slightly modified with fiberglass fender flares that bolt back to the frame.

As for the suspension, they will include a 4.5-inch kit by ICON Vehicle Dynamics. Custom hubs will be added to handle dynamics like those huge wheels, while Bilstein shocks give you a softer ride. The front axle is then moved forward for better clearance.

The starting price of a 6.7-liter Powerstroke f-250 XL 4x4 is $44,125. And with the base F250R package, that’s automatically an additional $28,000 for you. In short, a brand new MegaRaptor will easily cost you $72,125. But you can always go down to 40-inch tires on 17-inch wheels that only cost $22,000. If you don’t mind spending a few more thousands, there are a lot of available options that F250 offers such as lighting packages, spare tire racks, and leather seats.
