Aside from fronting Honda’s annual summer tour, pop rock band OneRepublic was also given an opportunity to customize a 2017 Honda Civic Type R. The car is a one-off and was made for the “Civic Tour City Flavour” event where music fans, foodies, and car enthusiasts will gather for a pop-up food experience with a number of food trucks serving up local dishes.
As mentioned earlier, the event focuses on music, food and cars. OneRepublic was asked to customize and sign not just a Honda Civic Type R, but also a Rebel motorcycle that will be showcased throughout the Honda Civic Tour. Looking at the exterior design, the hatchback got a unique design that is inspired by the band. It indicates some modern elements in terms of the architecture, that is painted in two black finishes - glossy and matte, with bold red accents.
Honda Civic Type R is already sweet as it is, but it catches even more attention with the OneRepublic livery. Though the design may not please everybody’s taste, it is still unique in its own way, most specially because it is a one-off. This event will give people the chance to get to know the Civic Type R up close and personal.
The car is truly a collector’s item as it will have the OneRepublic badge and the members’ autographs. But of course, the Type R will attract attention no matter what. Overall, the colour combination makes it look more aggressive and stunning.
Under the Type R’s hood is a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that generates 306 horsepower at 6,500 rpm.
During the event, fans can sign up for the Honda Civic Tour Sweepstakes, where they will get a chance to win a brand new car. The prize ranges from a sedan, hatchback, coupe, Si, and of course, a Type R. Luckily, the winner will be able to choose from any of these, and I’m pretty confident I can guess which car the winner will pick. The contest is not just limited to one car, Honda is also going to give away a Rebel motorcycle, as well as a trip to Los Angeles to watch OneRepublic perform live on stage.
The Honda Civic Tour will be coming to places like Dallas, Montreal, Phoenix, Toronto, and Mountain View, California. The band will be joined by other artists including James Arthur, The Tantrums, and Fitz. The tour will be running until September 12, 2017.
