H.R. Owen celebrates 85th anniversary with commissioned Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition

Article by Christian A., on May 24, 2017

If you’re selling some of the most expensive and most exclusive cars in the world, perhaps it would be a great idea to commission an ultra-rare work from the same marque to celebrate a new milestone. Perhaps, this was what H.R. Owen luxury dealership group had thought when it commissioned one of the most exclusive Rolls-Royce models ever built -- the Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition.

H.R. Owen – through its Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London luxury dealership – decided to commission the Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition as it celebrates its 85th anniversary this year. According to the dealership group, it commissioned the Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition to celebrate 85 years of expertise in “creating uniquely desirable motor cars.”

This very exclusive model is a drophead coupe named after the Mayfair area in the heart of Berkeley Square, the location of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London. Founded by Harold Rolfe Owen, H.R. Owen through has been selling Rolls-Royce cars in Mayfair since 1932.

Only one example of the Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition was made, as evidenced by its treadplates with embroidered words, “Special Commission – Mayfair Edition One of One.” This drophead coupe was designed by none other than the staff of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London. The staff specifically drew inspiration from the Audemars Piguet TITLE watch, and their design ideas were realized at Rolls-Royce’s design studio in Goodwood, West Sussex.

One of the most exclusive features of the new Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition is its dashboard made from copper. This marks the first time that such material is employed extensively in a Dawn model and in a Rolls-Royce car. Interestingly, the audio speakers in the new Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition are finished in copper. The exterior of the new Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition is wrapped in the Berwick Bronze color scheme, while its interior features leather seats in Arctic White.

The dealership group said that the Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition captures everything that has made Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London successful – like its finest bespoke features and the highest levels of attention to detail.

Claus Andersen, Brand Director of Rolls-Royce, remarked that the success of the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London has placed them in a position to offer such a car. Andersen added that they are now excited to find the new owner of the new Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition.

As for the price of the new Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition, it wasn’t disclosed. But surely, this ultra-rare and very exclusive drophead coupe won’t come cheap. After all, a regular Rolls-Royce Dawn already commands a base price of £250,000. It is only logical for a commissioned bespoke Rolls-Royce Dawn to fetch a much higher price.
