Kia teases its next-generation 2017 Picanto with rendered images

Article by Christian A., on January 22, 2017

When a car has been in the market for nearly six years, it loses some of its luster and its customers tend to go for the all-new model with a whole new level of features offerings instead. Good thing the South Korean carmaker isn’t ignorant of the fact that the second generation of its Kia Picanto small car is nearing the end of its life cycle.

This is why for the model year 2017, Kia will be releasing the new and third generation of the Kia Picanto small car. The Picanto has been repeatedly spied, although it was in its camouflage form in a bid to conceal its new looks. As planned, the South Korean carmaker will unveil the all-new 2017 Kia Picanto in the early part of next year. But before that, Kia has released a set of images providing a better view of the 2017 Picanto small car.

According to Kia, the new Picanto is a fusion of a youthful and energetic new exterior as well as interior design. Moreover, the new Kia Picanto offers customers the chance to personalize their rides when it comes to both the exterior and the interior. Kia added that the new Picanto now boasts of a more assertive stance thanks to its bolder body lines and a wide array of exterior colors to choose from.

It is not that the second generation of the Kia Picanto is poorly designed. By the way it looks, the current Picanto can’t be described as bold. Although defined as a small car, it is spacious and comfortable enough for its passengers. However, the third generation of the Kia Picanto – judging from the renders provided for by the South Korean company – seems more aggressive and sportier than its predecessor.

There are noticeable changes on the front end of the new generation Picanto – all of which should give the new small car a greater appeal. Compared to the previous model, the third-gen Picanto features new upper and headlight units similar to those on the new generation Kia Rio. The upper grille is visually connected to the headlight units, resulting to a singular horizontal graphic that makes the third-gen Picanto look wider and more menacing.

In addition, the new Picanto features a new lower grille with the two fog lights/daytime running lights integrated to its far lower corners. The front bumper of the new Picanto also features two integrated large three-slatted air intakes on the sides. Completing the sportier looks of the new generation Kia Picanto is a freshly designed rear-end with new taillights, rear bumper and dual exhaust tips.

Meanwhile, the third-gen Picanto comes with a newly designed interior that boasts of smarter packaging and a more upmarket appearance.

Whether the actual small car is as beautifully menacing as the render will be revealed when Kia unveils the 2017 Picanto next year.
