2017 Lamborghini Aventador S gets rendered

Article by Christian A., on December 6, 2016

Now that Lamborghini is set to bring a “more aggressive” Aventador, it only makes sense that it will be given a name. Seeing how it goes, perhaps we won’t be expecting an “LP740-4” for its label. Remember when the new Huracan Spyder was launched last month? Instead of naming it LP580-2, Automobili Lamborghini simply came up with “RWD Spyder”. Now, according to the grapevine, the Italian car manufacturer has already applied a trademark for an “Aventador S”. Let’s wait and see what happens after that.

For several years, Lamborghini has sustained the production for its well-known supercars. By coming up with an updated design, we can only expect the 2011 Aventador to have the same staying power just like its Countach, Diablo and Murcielago counterparts.

Spy photos reveal too little while speculations become more intense. Since it’s hard to get a clear picture of the final outcome, LamboCARS.com (a Lamborghini enthusiast website) came up with its own take on the new model.

So before the “Aventador S” makes its official debut (hopefully) at the Geneva Motor Show, the site has released images of what looks like a cross between the current Aventador Coupé and the extreme SV Roadster. As far as we can tell, LamboCARS anticipates that it will have the shape for its bumper and front fascia will be like that of the on-going Coupe. It also bears a resemblance to the SV model’s air intakes and side skirts.

Though it has been thought to have only slight changes, we think the rear section got most of the facelift. To begin with, check out the tail lamps and new grille styling. Then you will also notice that the rear diffuser has a new look with redesigned exhaust tailpipes in a triangle shape. The latter has practically replaced the tailpipes on the current Aventador model from four individually arranged tailpipes down to three.

According to some rumours, the new Aventador will also have the so-called “active aerodynamics”. This appears to be same as what the upcoming Lamborghini Huracan Performante will have. If LamboCARS got it right, then we’re pretty sure that car fans everywhere will rejoice. However, we wouldn’t mind it if what Lamborghini eventually comes up with is even more amazing. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.

Aside from the refreshed exterior, the “Aventador S” will get a new cockpit design, infotainment system plus an extra 20-40 horsepower. Maybe Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be added as well. It is also a given fact that the new rear wing is expected to deliver an improved downforce. There are no details released yet about its powertrain but it is likely to come with a V12 naturally aspirated engine. Until then, we’ll just wait for more details to come along.
