The latest offering to come from Lotus, the Elise Cup 250, reveals performance that represents the height of the redesigned Elise lineup, combined with its purity of purpose.
This newest model from the brand utilizes the motorsport knowledge of Lotus to the fullest, resulting in the model being lightweight and supercharged. Powering this vehicle is the 1.8-liter engine that comes supercharged. With this inside, the Elise Cup 250 can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Maximum speed meanwhile has been measured to be 154 mph.
Given that this model has experienced the Cup treatment, it is able to link the gap of track and road performance. Thus, the Elise Cup 250 has the capabilities of a racecar but put inside a package that can be driven on a daily basis. Lotus has long been long been known to come out with models with increased performance and lower weight. For the newest version of the Elise, the development team at the brand introduced a number of important enhancements.
In fact, the Elise Cup 250 has already been called by motoring press around the world as a five-star car. Compared to the previous version, the dry weight of the new one has been lowered to 884 kg. This was due to the use of a number of innovative lightweight materials like aluminum, carbon-fiber, and titanium. Customers who decide to avail of all the lightweight options can have the dry weight lowered to 860 kg. An example of this is using titanium for the full exhaust system which reduces the weight by an extra 7 kg.
In terms of design, the Elise Cup 250 sports the same one that was first seen in the Elise Sport and the Sprint models. Various changes have been done to the body like the front clam panel which is now lightweight and redesigned. This panel comes with a mesh pattern grille and radiator apertures that are clearly wider. The transom panel in the rear also has a new design. Instead of four light clusters, it makes use instead of just two, improving the design.
Regarding the new model, Group Lotus plc CEO Jean-Marc Gales shared that with the release of a wide range of new and special cars on the whole lineup, this is indeed an exciting time for the brand. This is what makes the release of the Elise Cup 250 all the more thrilling, he continued. He added that the brand already knows what loyal customers demand from them. CEO Gales revealed that with the new model, the brand also hopes to get new customers.
It aims to let people realize that the brand has long been releasing models that have a good mix of dynamics, style, performance, and value for money. With unadulterated and pure driving experience plus excellent speed, and sharp handling, Lotus models are truly one of a kind, he added further. With weight measuring 860 kg, the Elise Cup 250 has the aerodynamics and power that are well ahead of its lesser rivals, Gales continued. He concluded by saying that the brand has long been ahead as it is able to release a lightweight sports car that has been intelligently engineered.
