Now that the new 2017 Mazda CX-5 is already being sold in Japan, it won’t be long before it arrives in other markets around the world. Withproduction currently underway at the carmaker’s Ujina Plant No. 2 located near the carmaker’s global headquarters in Hiroshima, Japan, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 would soon arrive at Mazda’s showrooms in other countries. So, if you have plans to get a new Mazda CX-5 on your garage, perhaps knowing how much one cost would help.
According to the Japanese carmaker, the base version of the 2017 Mazda CX-5 will be available in the United States with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MRSP) of $24,045, plus $940 in destination charge ($985 in Alaska) or taxes, fees or additional charges. This means that the least expensive 2017 Mazda CX-5 – in Sport trim with front-wheel drive -- is available for $24,985. When the 2017 Mazda CX-5 Sport is specified with i-Activ AWD (all-wheel drive), the MSRP goes up to $25,345, excluding destination charges.
Meanwhile, the Touring model of the 2017 Mazda CX-5 FWD has an MSRP of $25,195 excluding destination charges. When the 2017 Mazda CX-5 i-Activ AWD is specified, the MSRP increases to $27,215, sans the destination charge. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 Touring could be availed with two trim packages. These are the Touring Preferred Equipment package that is available at an additional $780, and the i-ActiveSense package that comes at an extra $625.
The top-of-the-range 2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring, on the other hand, has an MSRP of $29,395 for the FWD version and $30,695 for the i-Active AWD model. Both MSRP excludes destination charges. Customers may avail of the Grand Touring Premium Package priced at $1,830.
Mazda is also offering three premium exterior colors: Soul Red Crystal for $595; Machine Gray Metallic (CX-5 Touring and Grand Touring models only) for $300; and Snowflake White Pearl Mica for $200.
As per Mazda’s Web site for the US market, only the 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 mid-size sports utility vehicle is listed on the online configurator. In its base form, the 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 will have an MRSP of $23,595, plus $900 of destination fee and other charges ($945 for Alaska) for a total of $24,495. However, the 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 is different from the 2017 Mazda CX-5. The newest iteration of Mazda’s mid-size SUV features a new exterior design and a more streamlined interior. Likewise, the North American version of the 2017 Mazda CX-5 will now be available with a new diesel powerplant – the 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D engine.
The new 2017 Mazda CX-5 is bound to arrive in the US in late March.
