Following its global debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show (2017 Detroit Auto Show) in January and its European unveiling at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show this month, the new Mercedes-Benz is now finally available to order, at least in its home market Germany. In fact, interested clients could now go Mercedes’ Web site and configure their own E Class according to their tastes and preferences.
As to how much the new Mercedes-Benz E Class Coupe would cost, the German premium carmaker has already provided a cheat list on the starting prices on each of the four models available at launch: the E200, the E220d, the E300, and the E400 4Matic. For those who have made their orders, they could expect to take deliveries of the latest iteration of the E Class Coupe as early as spring 2017.
The entry-level E200 derives its power from a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that could deliver up to 184 hp (135 kW) of output and up to 221 lb.-ft. (300 Nm) of torque. This amount of power is enough to send the Mercedes E200 Coupe sprinting from nil to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and achieving a top speed of 240 km/h. The Mercedes E200 Coupe is available in Germany at a starting price of EUR49,051.80 (including VAT).
A more powerful version of the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine is found on the Mercedes E300 Coupe, providing 245 hp (180 kW) of max output and 273 lb.-ft. (370 Nm) of peak torque. Since this mill delivers a higher level of power, it allows the Mercedes E300 Coupe to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds on the way to reaching a top speed of 250 km/h. Interested clients may avail of the Mercedes E300 Coupe at a base price of EUR54,740. Price includes VAT.
Serving as the heart of the range-topping Mercedes E400 Coupe is a 3.0-liter V6 mill, which is essentially a detuned version of the engine found in the AMG 43 units. In the Mercedes E400 Coupe, this V6 engine provides at most 333 hp (245 kW) of output and up to 354 lb.-ft. (480 Nm) of torque. This engine is powerful enough to make the Mercedes E400 Coupe go as quick on the sprint in just 5.3 seconds and go as fast as 250 km/h. The Mercedes E400 Coupe is available at a starting price tag of EUR64,807.40, VAT inclusive.
On the other hand, the diesel engine in the Mercedes E220d Coupe could provide 194 hp (143 kW) of peak output and 295 lb.-ft. (400 Nm) of top torque. In this configuration, the Mercedes E220d Coupe is able to zoom from zero to 100 km/h in a time of 7.4 seconds with a top speed of 242 km/h. Customers who wanted this version of the E Class needs at least – with VAT already counted – EUR50,575.
The E Class Coupe is widely regarded as Mercedes’ counter to the BMW’s 4 Series coupe and Audi’s A5 coupe. In terms of overall dimensions, the new E Class Coupe -- underpinned by Mercedes’ latest modular rear architecture (MRA platform) -- measures 4,827 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,430 mm in height. These dimensions allow the E Class Coupe to feature sleek yet elegant proportions typical of Mercedes.
