Amid the excitement related to the solar eclipse, Nissan revealed two of its pickups, both in a special edition livery. Instead of waiting for auto shows, Nissan chose to debut its new models in the United States on this auspicious day. The Japanese manufacturer has not introduced new models. Instead, it unveiled a Midnight Edition for the following models: Titan, Titan XD, and the Frontier.
For the Midnight Edition, expect to see a blacked out version of the cars. To be more specific, the Titan model will now get a black front grille, headlight surrounds, foglight trim. And for the Titan XD, it gets additional blacked out fender louvers too. Smaller details like the mirror caps, door handles, badges and step rails also get a darker shadow like shade too. Other than that, they will now have a set of black painted 20-inch wheels to complete the midnight look. If you are not a big fan of all-black cars and would rather see some contrast, you can order the car in a different finish such as Gun Metallic gray and Pearl White.
The Midnight Edition package is not just limited to the car’s exterior. In the cabin, you will find Charcoal black accents together with black floor mats.
When it comes to the Titan, the Crew Cab body of the mid-range SV and SL trims are compatible with the package - which includes both the 4x4 and 4x2 powertrains. Furthermore, the Midnight Edition can only be applied to the Crew Cab SV and SL with the 4x4 models that come with a Cummins 5.0 liter V8 turbodiesel.
Similarly, the Frontier Midnight Edition gets almost the same upgrades. From the pickup’s gloss black grille, semi-gloss black step rails, blacked out mirror caps and door handles, to the matching badges. To make it look a little more seamless, the front and rear bumpers come in the same shade as the body. For this model, customers can choose from three paint jobs including Magnetic Black, Gun Metallic and Glacier White for the exterior. It can also be availed for the Crew Cab SV 4x2 and 4x4 automatic transmission models.
The Midnight Edition Frontier, Titan and Titan XD will not be available until fall 2017. The package is actually already available on models like the Altima, Maxima, Murano, Pathfinder, Rogue, and Sentra. What we don’t know yet is how much the Midnight Edition will cost for these vehicles. However, the company assures us that the package will cost lower compared to purchasing the parts individually.
