Toyota releases 86 860 Special Edition

Article by Christian A., on March 17, 2017

The iconic 86 sports coupe is once again paving the way for another interesting update. This time, Toyota comes out with the new “860 Special Edition”. Appealing to the young and older generation market, the 2017 Toyota 86 860 carries better amenities, tasteful color scheme, new design plus a handful of upgrades.

For its exterior, the revamped 86 sports car received an array of aerodynamic treatment consisting of new underbody panel with slim spoiler at the rear. These, along with its new fender vents, redesigned front and rear fascia, LED fog lights and 17-inch black chrome alloys, make the Toyota 86 seem like it’s totally new.

To achieve exclusivity, the sports car has the limited edition label – both interior and outside. Also, there’s a bright body paint that goes by the name-- Supernova Orange to go with its new look. This orange is actually the exclusive color for the 860. However, you can also have it in Halo White. White as we know is a terrific choice especially for those who want to keep it more elegant. It should be noted that each color variant will be featuring the limited edition black body stripes, new spoiler and black side mirror casings.

For its new amenities, the special edition Euro-spec Toyota 86 has been equipped with heated side mirrors, dual-zone climate control, heated leather front seats, push-start button and leather wrapped steering wheel. Including the handbrake and gear shifter, all leather trims inside come in black with contrasting orange for the stitches. That way, it matches the limited edition exclusive body paint.

As a standard feature, each special edition 86 Toyota, which will be limited to only 860 units, come with a built-in 4.2-inch multi-information display. This useful feature will show the current miles per gallon of fuel returns, oil temperature, engine coolant temperature, horsepower and torque curves. Also included on the display are the g-force meter and a stopwatch.

The Toyota 86 860 uses the same 205hp and 156 lb-ft of torque naturally aspirated 2.0 liter gasoline unit. In fact, only a few changes have been made underneath including softer springs, new rear anti roll bar and stiffer suspensions.

The 2017 Toyota 86 860 will arrive at the dealerships later this month. As for the cost, the limited run Toyota sports coupe with 6-speed manual transmission is going to be priced at 30,040 USD. Meanwhile, the automatic transmission with rev management technology and paddle shifters can be had at 30,760 USD. Interestingly, Toyota also anticipates that about sixty percent of its sales will be accounted for the manual.
