Intensa Emozione is actually an Italian phrase that means “Intense Emotion.” If you’re wondering why a German hypercar has an Italian name, know that it was developed as a collaboration between Apollo Automobil and engineering partner Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT), which is based in Turin, Italy. Interestingly, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus also tapped MAT for its SCG003 project.
Apollo designed the new IE to deliver an exhilarating performance that allows its driver to enjoy a level of pure driving enjoyment that current hypercars couldn’t provide with their plug-and-play setups. At the core of this performance is a powerful engine sans any boost from a turbocharger or a supercharger. This 6.3-liter V12 mill is naturally aspirated and is able to deliver a whopping 780 hp of max output and 560 lb.-ft. (759 Nm) of peak torque. At this power level, this V12 engine could send the Apollo IE sprinting from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 207 mph (333 km/h). Power is sent to the wheels through a six-speed Hewland sequential gearbox with a pneumatic change.
Also adding to the thrilling experience is the fact that the IE weighs only 1,250 kg (2,756 lbs) -- with a 45:55 weight distribution biased to the rear – thanks to the extensive employment of carbon fiber both in the body and chassis. Its carbon fiber monocoque chassis isn't just lighter but also stronger. Both the front and rear sub-frame are also made from carbon fiber, with whole tub/sub-frame set up tipping the scales at only 105 kg (231 lbs).
While it is light in terms of weight, the new Apollo IE could still hug the road even at high speeds – especially in corners -- thanks to 1,350 kg (2,976 lbs) of downforce (44.5 percent front/55.5 percent rear), as made possible by a massive rear wing, a large front splitter, channels along the bodywork and dive planes, as well as vents in the hood, flanks and rear.
To complement its superb power, the new IE is fitted with a F1-inspired double wishbone with full push-rod and rocker arm architecture – for the front and rear axles – as well as adjustable anti-roll bars and Adjustable Bilstein dampers. Braking power comes in the form of Brembo carbon ceramic brakes with 380 mm x 34mm six-piston calipers on the front and 380 x 34mm four-piston calipers on the rear.
For those who might be looking forward to flaunt his high-speed beautiful emotion-charged hypercar, Apollo is saying that this creation is track-only and can’t be legally driven on the road. Apollo plans to build only 10 bespoke units, each getting a price tag of EUR2.3 million.
