Somehow, the new generation of Audi’s A5 family remained incomplete as it lacked a convertible version – until now. This comes as Audi unveiled the 2018 Audi A5 Cabriolet, which allows four occupants to fully enjoy open-top rides in a mid-sized premium model.
Aside from its long wheelbase, the new A5 Cabriolet also features a wide track that measures 1,587 mm (62.5 inches) at the front and 1,568 mm (61.7 in) at the rear. Ride comfort comes courtesy of an updated five-link front suspension and a five-link rear suspension, with adaptive dampers available as an option.
These elements have been integrated into the standard Audi drive select dynamic handling system, which allows drivers to pick between a dynamic or a comfortable drive.
Moreover, the A5 convertible features a new electromechanical power steering for greater steering precision. Customers may avail of the optional dynamic steering that could vary its gear ratio according to the vehicle speed and steering angle.
Featured as standard on the new A5 and S5 Cabriolet are xenon headlights, partial leather seats and Audi drive select dynamic handling system as well as Audi MMI radio plus.
Audi will commence sales of the new Audi A5 and S5 Cabriolet in Germany and other markets in Europe in March 2017 with starting prices of EUR49,350 for the A5 Cabriolet and EUR67,800 for the sportier S5 Cabriolet.
