We’re willing to bet that the Bentley Bentayga is not the first thing that comes to mind for most people who are into off-roading and outdoor activities. It just doesn’t have that kind of reputation; also, it has a whopping price tag of $229,000.
Well, regardless of what your reasons are for hesitating on purchasing one, the automaker, together with Mulliner, has built an outstanding vehicle that you would want in your garage. Both companies have joined forces to fit a Field Sports accessory kit to the luxurious SUV, and this optional kit includes everything you need for the ultimate hunting car, believe it or not.
The British automaker and aforementioned Mulliner got custom gun manufacturer Purdey to work with them. So Purdey designed storage in the cargo area as an added feature. But what makes this so special is the large sliding unit that comes with several compartments capable of carrying supplies that the passenger will require – ranging from a first aid kit to some extra ammunition. Of course, the storage is not just like any basic storage out there, as it has been finished in the finest, authentic handcrafted materials to make sure that it is still luxurious.
That’s not all, in between the rear, there is even a leather-trimmed locking stowage case that can fit two guns, which we have never seen before. Customers can also opt for a Purdey bag that includes things like a waistcoat, a waterproof cape, gaiters, field coat, shoes and an overnight bag - everything that you will need to go hunting, day or night. Because it is a Bentley, it comes with the same leather interior with quilted design, and of course, enough room for champagne flutes for a post-hunt drink.
As of today, the Field Sports accessory for the Bentley Bentagya remains as a one-off. But if the automaker notices a demand for this, then they could offer it to customers real soon. So far, this is Bentley’s latest modification for the Bentayga, and the latest in a line of over-the-top Bentagya builds. Some of the other Bentaygas that Mulliner has developed are the ultra-posh Daylesford picnic special edition, and the Bentayga Falconry.
Any Bentley Bentayga you choose to get, whether it is the hunting-ready Field Sports edition, or the picnic special edition, will come with the same 6.0 liter biturbo V8 under the hood, that brings out an impressive 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 664 pound-feet (900 Newton metres) of torque. That should be enough power for whatever activity you may wish to do. As a result, the car is able to hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in only 4.1 seconds so you could get to your hunting spot just in time.
