It has been a while since BMW launched the third generation of the BMW 6 Series, both as a coupe and as a convertible. That was way back 2011, and today the BMW 6 Series remains one of the sought-after models in its segment. While we are waiting for the next generation of the BMW 6 Series to arrive, we could feast on a refreshed version of the model for the United States market for the 2018 model year.
Honestly, the 2018 BMW 6 Series – remains as it is. This means customers shouldn’t expect any radical mechanical changes or inner working revisions on the latest version of the BMW 6 Series, which means the Coupe, Convertible and the Gran Coupe. However, BMW has decided to beef up the looks of the 6 Series in a bid to tease customers up before the arrival of the next generation models. Apparently, these cosmetic and equipment tweaks are able – somehow – make the 2018 BMW 6 Series still as appealing that it is still worth the purchase.
These new cosmetic and equipment options are all available for the 2018 versions of the BMW 6 Series Convertible and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe – encompassing sporty modifications to both the interior and the exterior of these refreshed models. For the exterior, the 2018 BMW 6 Series Convertible and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe could be provided with a new M Sport Package that was previously exclusive for the M model.
For the new BMW 6 Series, this M Sport Package comes with a new Carbon Fiber trim as well as a Sonic Speed Blue metallic exterior finish that should allow either the Convertible or the Gran Coupe stand out from others. This M Sport Package also includes new bi-color 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with M-specific double-spoke design. These rims are wrapped in staggered run flat tires.
On the other hand, the already lavish interior of the 2018 BMW 6 Series could be further be customized with personalization offerings from BMW Individual. Customers could choose from a broad palette of interior paint finishes, modern trims and high-end leather, as well as from a wide array of headliners and equipment. These additional interior modifications from BMW Individual could be further employed to ensure that the customers could personalize the cabins of the 2018 BMW 6 Series Convertible and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe models according to their own taste and preferences.
For the 2018 model year, both the BMW 6 Series Convertible and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe will be available as 640i (rear wheel drive) and 640i xDrive (all wheel drive) powered by turbocharged inline-six 3.0-liter engine delivering 315 hp of output. Both the Convertible and the Gran Coupe will also be available as 650i (rear wheel drive) and 650i xDrive (all wheel drive) powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine providing 445 hp of output.
