BMW will be releasing a limited edition 7 Series in the same way that the 3 Series and 5 Series models got their own anniversary editions from the previous years. The BMW 7 Series Edition 40 Jahre, which is limited to only 200 examples, will be manufactured at BMW’s Dingolfing plant in Germany. Interestingly, this is also where the 7 Series was born and has been produced since 1977.
In line with the celebration of its 40th year, BMW is offering two special paint variants exclusively available from its very own Individual catalogue. Customers can choose between the Petrol Mica metallic (7 Series’ original body color) and the Frozen Silver metallic body paint. Its array of enhancements will include the brand’s high gloss Shadow Line trim, a new set of BMW Individual light V-spoke alloy wheels, as well as BMW’s M Aerodynamics Package. All limited-run 7 Series 40 Jahre also come with specially marked B-pillar coverings and door pillars to underline the segment’s 40 years of existence.
BMW’s Individual package is prominent as well inside the cabin such as the brand’s soft premium leather upholstery. The choices available are either in Smoke White/Black or Smoke White/Cohiba two color combinations. Any color scheme selected comes with a pair of limited edition comfort cushions in Smoke White which includes floor mats and Alcantara headliner of the same color. Depending on the choice of upholstery combination, the floor mat’s edging can be had either in brown or black while the accents can be availed either in Piano black lacquer or Smoke brown woodgrain.
To make the 7 Series Edition 40 Jahre more exclusive, customers are offered with additional features that they can optionally avail over the standard limited BMW. The luxury sedan may come with a special Console, an Executive Lounge rear seats, a rear-seat entertainment system, and a panoramic glass roof, among many other fancy offerings.
Both the short wheelbase (G11) and the long wheelbase (G12) guises are included on the list of choices, with motors ranging from the M760Li V12 down to the 740e iPerformance plugin hybrid with 4 cylinder. Regardless, all anniversary Series can be had with or without BMW’s XDrive permanent all-wheel drive system.
The 7 Series Edition 40 Jahre will be showcased at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show before hitting the assembly lines this October. Do take note that the available engines will include a 6-cylinder, an 8-cylinder or the 12-cylinder but a plug-in hybrid can also be specified as an alternative. Pricing details will be announced in the coming weeks.
