Chinese version of the 2018 Buick Regal GS is officially unveiled

Buick finally reveals the 2018 model year of the Regal GS, except the one we are seeing is for the Chinese market. But not to worry as the American version of the sporty midsize sedan will look almost identical as this one. In fact, the previous models look the same in both countries.

So far, we have only seen two images of the new 2018 Buick Regal GS. One of the exterior, and the other one of the interior. Based on what we can see here, the 2018 model year now comes with sportier bumpers with a pair of huge air vents. The new grille gets a mesh pattern, which is different from the standard Regal and the Tourx wagon that come with vertical fins.

Moving on to the profile of the Regal GS, its side skirts have become bulkier, paired with a set of huge black alloy wheels with Brembo brake calipers in red that acts as a contrast. As for the rear, the sedan will be having a more aggressive bumper and larger trapezoidal exhaust tips like the ones we saw in the spy shots earlier on.

As for the cabin, there are not a lot of changes that are noticeable except for the faux carbon fiber trim on the door panels. The all black interior now gets a steering wheel with perforated leather that’s distinct from other Regal models. Another thing that separates the GS from the regular model would be the red stitching all over.

Perhaps there is a reason why it was given minimal changes physically. It could be because the Regal GS will now be given a V6 engine, with enough power to produce an estimated 310 horsepower according to B Magazine. Take note that the Australian-made 2018 Holden Commodore will have a 3.6-liter V6 with almost the same power as this Regal.

Having said that, the Opel / Vauxhall Insignia OPC for Europe will be getting a four-cylinder instead of a six-cylinder engine. This has already been confirmed by the Rüsselsheim-based manufacturer. Though this may not sound like good news, it is still worth noting that an upgraded turbocharged 2.0 liter gasoline engine will still be more powerful than the strongest Insignia with 260 hp (191 kilowatts). Furthermore, Opel will definitely push its engine so it can produce 30-40 horsepower more so it can have at least 300 horsepower.

Soon, we will be getting the full specs of the Chinese Regal GS. As for the US-spec, it should make its debut in the next couple of months. And so far, we have not heard any news on when the European version will come out.
