2018 Cadillac CTS-V Glacier Metallic Edition is perfect for winter, deliveries begin in September

Article by Christian A., on August 23, 2017

The 2018 Cadillac CTS-V sedan will be getting a new paint job that will give it a unique icy feel. Dubbed the Glacier Metallic Edition, this special model was built in celebration of Cadillac’s 115-year history. That’s why only 115 examples will be built. When looking at this high performance four-door sedan with its cool light grey exterior, you will be reminded of an overcast winter afternoon.

Moving into the mechanical bits, the limited-edition CTS-V will have the same set up as the standard models. This means that it will still be getting the 6.2 liter V8 that produces 640 horsepower (477 kilowatts) and 630 pound-feet (855 Newton metres) of torque, that will work hand in hand with an eight-speed automatic gearbox giving power to the rear wheels.

As expected, the CTS-V Glacier Edition will be quite expensive, with an asking price of $103,885 including destination. For comparison’s sake, the standard version of the sedan starts at $87,990 - that is an additional $15,895 for the special edition model.

This might actually be more affordable than having your sedan modified by a tuner. By September, the company plans to deliver 105 examples of the Glacier Edition, while the last ten examples will arrive at a later time. Customers will also benefit from a two-day training opportunity at Cadillac’s V-Performance Academy.

Exterior Design

The Glacier Metallic Edition is not all about how it looks on the outside. Considering that it was made to celebrate the company’s 115th year, it has to be way more impressive than that. And this is why the company also gave it a Carbon Fiber Package that comes standard with the model, using extra lightweight material for certain parts including the front splitter, hood vent, rear spoiler, and diffuser.

To finish off the exterior look, the 2018 CTS-V will be riding on a set of 19-inch wheels with Midnight Silver pockets and this will be paired with dark red Brembo brake calipers that stand out from its light grey body. Other details that can be spotted from the exterior include illuminated door handles, giving it both a sporty and luxurious feel.

Interior Design

As for the interior, the Glacier Metallic Edition will be given a set of Jet Black Recaro sport seats that stands out from the sedan’s exterior finish. It will also come standard with the Luxury Package which includes several functions like the tri-zone climate control, split-folding rear seat, heated rear seats, and sunshades in the rear.

It also comes with a 110-volt power outlet and a rearview mirror-mounted camera, as well as a sunroof and the Performance Data Recorder that is exclusive with this special edition model.

Introducing the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V Glacier Metallic Edition

Cadillac today announced the exclusive 2018 Cadillac CTS-V Glacier Metallic Edition, painted a smoky light gray that celebrates Cadillac’s 115- year history. The Edition will be limited to 115 CTS-V super sedans produced in 2017 for model year 2018.

Accenting the anniversary color are standard illuminated door handles, dark red Brembo® brake calipers and 19-inch forged polish-finished alloy wheels with Midnight Silver painted pockets, creating a unique look for Cadillac’s ultimate driver’s car.

The interior features Jet Black RECARO® race-inspired sport seats, the Performance Data Recorder system featuring COSWORTH Toolbox analysis software, UltraView sunroof, the industry–first Rear Camera Mirror and the next-generation Cadillac user experience infotainment system.

The Cadillac CTS-V super sedan is powered by a supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine SAE certified at 640 horsepower (477 kW) and 630 lb-ft of torque (855 Nm). It employs an efficient, compact supercharger matched with direct injection and Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation). Power is transferred exclusively to the rear wheels through an 8-speed sport automatic transmission with Performance Algorithm Shifting. The highly advanced Performance Traction Management system, developed through a two-year engineering embed with Cadillac Racing in Pirelli World Challenge, adds five track- oriented modes (from Wet to Race) plus Launch Control to ensure the
most powerful Cadillac ever sold can adapt perfectly to track conditions and driver comfort level.

All new Cadillac V-Series models include tuition and accommodation at the 2-day Cadillac V-Performance Academy at Spring Mountain (offer valid for 1 year, reserved for the original owner of each new, unused model year 2017 and newer Cadillac ATS-V and CTS-V models).
