Leaked: See what’s inside 2018 Jeep Wrangler owner’s manual

Article by Christian A., on October 19, 2017

While the official premiere of 2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL/JLU) is already set this December, fans everywhere rejoiced at having had something like this appear on the web. Yes, everything we need to learn about the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is now accessible thanks to the leaked owner’s manual and user guide posted at the JL Wrangler Forums website. You can find everything from technical specs, operation, down to the interior. The PDF files practically contain all the information about the new Wrangler. It’s pretty overwhelming so we kind of don’t know where to start but allow us to share the juiciest parts anyway.

For starters, why don’t we talk about the engine. The leaked owner’s manual reveals that the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL will have two powertrain options---one is a 3.6-liter V6 hybrid while the other is a 2.0-liter turbo hybrid gas /electric powertrain. The recommended fuel is 91 octane for the 2.0L (Hurricane) turbo and 87 octane for the 3.6 L V6 (Pentastar) which comes with a manual transmission.

It also seems that the next generation Wrangler has been equipped with all the latest features for safety, luxury and convenience that normally come with a premium model. Likewise, the new Wrangler is offered with the same off-road capability that has been known to brand, with nearly the same payload and towing capacity as the previous Jeeps. Meaning, the JLU can tow up to 3,500 pounds (1,587 kg) maximum, while the two-door Jeep has a maximum towing of 2,000lbs (907kg).

Moving further, its infotainment features both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, Uconnect 3 with 5-inch display, Uconnect 4 with 7-inch display and Uconnect 4C with 8.4-inches touchscreen that can be had with or without the satellite navigation system. However, it seems that only the 7-inch and 8.4-inch infotainment screens can mirror what’s seen on your smartphone device.

Other highlights include 4 accessory /auxiliary switches, a backup rearview camera, a 21.5 gal. fuel tank (for the 4-door variants), detachable side steps, center console shift lever for 4x4, retractable windshield, detachable doors and detachable glass doors. We also found out it has a removable sway bar and a new power sliding / folding roof.

Note that both JL and JLU come with instruction manuals on how to take off your hard top roof panels including instructions on how to operate your soft top cover should you need to lower it down. Unlike the conventional hard and soft top covers, the new power sliding roof is not detachable but you can slide it open whether manually or electronically with speeds up to 60 miles per hour. Beyond that, the new Wrangler also features rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitor and plenty of airbags for safety.
