The McLaren F1 is considered to be one of the most difficult models to get your hands on and it’s even more elusive now especially since its prices have gone up in excess of $10 million when being auctioned.
So instead of letting customers cry over the F1, McLaren Newport Beach decided that they would work with their special division, McLaren Special Operations to give 10 of their customers the next best thing: custom MSO X examples of the 570S Coupe with exterior inspiration from the competition livery of an F1 GTR race car.
When looking at the MSO X 570S from the outside, it is apparent that the model gets inspiration from the 570S GT4 race car, except that they are road legal. The sides of the bumpers now get dive plates, while the competition inspired hood features additional intakes.
There is now a functional roof mounted air intake, and a tall wing that sits on the tail. This gives the car an additional 220 pounds (100 kilograms) of downforce. The new titanium exhaust makes the 3.8 liter biturbo V8 sound even better too. From the first time you look at this, you would know that it is a lightweight car, as you can see lightweight components like the exposed carbon fiber from the exterior.
Carbon fiber details extend into the car’s interior as well, because MSO makes liberal use of the exposed carbon fiber - which includes things like the monocoque, seat shells, and sill plates. The rest of the cabin is covered in a mostly Alcantara upholstery to make it look a bit more upscale.
MSO also took out the car’s center console to cut some extra weight. And even if these models look like race cars, do not forget that they are still road legal and this is why it retains features of a normal road car like parking sensors, rearview camera, and air conditioning.
But even then, the ten lucky people who will own this car should not have a problem taking it out on the track because of the six point racing harnesses and standard three point belts that it comes with inside.
As mentioned earlier, McLaren Newport Beach will only sell ten examples of this unique MSO X 570S Coupe, and according to them, all ten have already been accounted for. As for the price tag, they did not give us details. Signifying how momentous this was, a delivery ceremony was conducted in a McLaren event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
