Mercedes-Benz Vans has yet to officially unveil the production version of its X-Class luxury pickup truck, but quite a number of interested customers are asking the German carmaker whether it would be possible to place an order. But if you are living in the United Kingdom, you could now reserve a new X-Class pickup premium truck from Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz Vans UK has now opened the reservations book for the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class, thanks to the “phenomenally early demand” for the premium pickup truck. This means that potential UK customers would just need to shell out some cash to have their names listed on the reservation list for the UK-spec Mercedes X-Class. Mercedes Vans UK has pegged the reservation fee at around £1,000 (more or less $1,248 or €1,162). When Mercedes finally and officially launches the sale of the X-Class, those who have their names on the list will be first to order the premium pickup truck.
However, since this is just a reservation list for the X-Class, UK customers who think that the premium pickup truck isn’t worth their money could back out from the roll. Of course, they wouldn’t have to worry about their reservation money since Mercedes Vans UK is prepared to refund the entire amount should they decide to withdraw from owning the UK-spec plush pickup truck.
So far, the X-Class has been shown in its concept form. Months ago, Mercedes provided a preview of the premium pickup truck through the Concept X-Class in Stockholm. Two versions were then shown – the Concept X-Class Stylish Explorer and the Concept X-Class Powerful Adventurer. The Mercedes Concept X-Class Stylish Explorer previews the pickup truck’s progressive design and its SUV-like appearance for dramatic stylish statement. This version of the X-Class fuses contrasting hot and cool cues to reinterpret Mercedes-Benz’s design philosophy. Appealing and purist surface treatment (hot) has been elegantly fused with precise and clever details (cool).
Meanwhile, the Concept X-Class Powerful Adventurer previews the pick-up’s strengths -- strong, tough, functional, off-road capability, comfort and style. These strengths are exuded by its lemonax metallic paint finish and other design cues. It also features wing claddings, matte carbon wheel arches, front and rear underride guard as well as an electric winch on the front and a metal hook at the rear.
The new X-Class premium pickup truck should enable Mercedes Vans to further expand its lineup with a fourth model series. It should also allow Mercedes Vans to become the first premium carmaker to enter the mid-size pickup segment. Mercedes Vans is planning to launch the X-Class in late 2017, targeting key markets like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Europe, New Zealand and South Africa. Mercedes Vans will launch the X-Class in the UK in 2018.
