Nissan's large SUV, the Armada, which was introduced last year, will be getting an upgrade for the 2018 model year. One of the most prominent new changes would cover the technology upgrade.
For instance, the Platinum trim of the Armada will be getting a new Intelligent Rear View Mirror. You're probably wondering what makes it so intelligent now. Well, it works with a rear mounted camera and acts as the monitor for it. So basically, what you'll see in the rear view mirror is not a reflection of the mirror, but what the camera can see instead. But if you find that weird or if you aren't used to it, this can easily be switched to the traditional mirror like that in regular cars, in just a switch of a button. The main function of this upgrade can help drivers see the rear more clearly even when the van is filled with passengers.
That isn't the only upgrade it gets. The Nissan Armada still has an eight-inch infotainment system, but it now offers more features like the multi-touch functionality, better voice recognition, hands free text messaging assist and SiriusXM Travel Link good for three years. This includes information on fuel prices, weather, among others. Another upgrade is that the SUV now gets more USB ports so passengers can charge their devices simultaneously.
Customers will be thankful for the infotainment system upgrade because the older version wasn't impressive at all - it was like a reminder that the Armada is based on a six-year-old Patrol, with the old school colours and graphics that are way behind what automakers offer nowadays. For the sake of comparison, Ford Tahoe's Sync3 and Chevy's MyLink are way better in terms of functionality and graphics.
Under the hood of the 2018 Armada, the same 5.6 liter V8 remains intact, giving out 390 horsepower (291 kilowatts) and 394 pound-feet (534 Newton-metres) of torque, that works together with the seven-speed automatic gearbox as a standard. It can tow up to 8,500 pounds (3,856 kilograms) too. Buyers can either go for a four-wheel or a two-wheel drive layout.
