Volvo S90 Ambience Concept is the answer for those who want next-level comfort and luxury

Many of us are excited for the upcoming 2018 Beijing Motor Show. But one of the models we are particularly thrilled to witness is a concept based on the Volvo S90, its flagship sedan. The show car first came to life as the three seater Excellence version. But the model had gone through a number of changes on the inside to make the ride experience even more enjoyable for rear seated passengers.

Included in the model highlights would be the headliner on which various visual elements are displayed based on the passenger’s preferred theme. This varies from the Northern Lights, Archipelago, Swan Lake, to the Scandinavian Forest. Aside from the themes mentioned, the S90 Ambience Concept also features what they call a Nocturnal mode, which can be turned on when the passenger wants to rest. In contrary to that, there is also a “Freedom” mode that will give you a boost and lifts your energy. But that’s only if you want to be woken up.

Inside the cabin, the Volvo S90 Ambience has been equipped with the Bowers and Wilkins sound system. Therefore, the dynamic ceiling makes use of the aforementioned sound system. Each theme can be selected with the use of dedicated smartphone app, which can personalise the aural experience. The high end audio system has also an ace up its sleeve as it comes with small tweeters embedded into the headrests.

To finish off this package, the Volvo S90 Ambience will also be featuring four custom-made scents that will be released from a special compartment found in the center console. These are not just any random scent, but they actually were created to complement each theme. These scents were created by Byerdo, a Swedish high end brand that specialize in scented candles, perfumes and leather goods.

As of now, the S90 Ambience remains to be a concept only. According to Volvo, they have plans of offering this system on their road-going sedan, with a focus on the Chinese market. The People’s Republic is an important region for Volvo, because last year alone, the automaker was able to sell over 100,000 vehicles for the first time ever. China is not only the biggest single market of Volvo, but is also considered the largest marketplace for the S90.

And as mentioned earlier, this is why Volvo is currently looking into turning the S90 Ambience into the reality for the said market. Who knows though, maybe this feature will eventually be available in the brand’s other models too. And if it turns out to be a success, it will likely be offered in other markets too.
