Just a month ago, Audi unveiled the all-new A6 Sedan (C8), and it seems more comfortable, sportily elegant and digitalized than its predecessor. The German premium carmaker didn’t wait long to reveal the more practical version of the new A6 Sedan – the new 2019 Audi A6 Avant (C8) – featuring the same stunning design and spacious interior.
As a twin of the new Audi A6 Sedan, the A6 Avant features a striking and dynamic design, especially at the front half. The A6 Avant looks very much the same as the A6 Sedan, except for the rear half that has designed to deliver a more spacious cabin that is more practical for both passengers and cargo. In terms of dimensions, the new Audi A6 Avant measures 4.94 meters (16.2 ft) in length, 1.89 meters (6.2 ft) in width and 1.47 meters (4.8 ft) in height. With these dimensions, the interior of the new A6 Avant is larger than on its predecessor. It also offers larger front and rear elbow rooms as well as larger rear knee room.
In terms of luggage space, the new A6 Avant is as spacious as its predecessor, with a loading width of 1,050 mm (3.5 ft) and a capacity 565 liters (20.0 cu. ft.). When the backrests are folded down, the cargo capacity surges to 1,680 liters (59.3 cu. ft.). As standard, the tailgate and the luggage compartment cover of the A6 Avant open electrically. However, the tailgate could be availed with an optional sensor control.
Other standard elements are rear seats that can be folded 40:20:40 as well as a proven rail system for the cargo compartment. The optional trailer hitch could be availed with an electric release function.
As for its appearance, the new A6 Avant is defined by its Singleframe grille that is lower and wider than before. This grille is flanked by LED headlights as standard, as available in three versions including the HD Matrix LED headlights with high-resolution high beam. When the HD Matrix LED headlights are specified, five horizontal lines draw the daylight running light signature. When viewed from the sides, the Avant reveals an elongated silhouette, trapezoidal window surfaces, characteristically shaped blisters, low-profile D-pillar as well as a roof edge spoiler. Its rear end, meanwhile, is marked by elegant lights linked by a decorative trim.
Customers could have their new Audi A6 Avant be wrapped in any of the 12 available paint colors. They could also choose from the optional sport and design exterior equipment lines. The S line exterior package is also offered for the new 2018 A6 Avant.
Customers could choose from four different equipment lines – in addition to the basic line – to give interior of the new Audi A6 Avant with different characters: sport, design, design selection and the S line sport package. The new A6 Avant also features completely redeveloped seats, which include the S sport seats with integrated head restraints. Optional elements include a large panoramic glass sunroof.
The new A6 Avant comes with two large displays for its MMI touch response operating system: a 10.1-inch display – if MMI navigation plus is fitted – allows the driver to manage infotainment and navigation; while a 8.6-inch display to access climate control, comfort functions and text input. The MMI navigation plus also includes the Audi virtual cockpit with its 12.3-inch screen diagonal, as operated with the multifunction buttons found on the steering wheel..
All engines for the 2019 A6 Avant are equipped with a mild hybrid system and are mated to a seven-speed S tronic or an eight-speed tiptronic and the quattro all-wheel drive. These engines are supported standard progressive steering or the optional dynamic all-wheel steering. Four suspension variants are available: the standard steel-spring suspension, the sport suspension, the suspension with shock absorber control and the adaptive air suspension.
