Three years ago, Rolls-Royce first mentioned the Cullinan, which came to be the most anticipated SUV in the world. It is the opulent brand’s very first high riding model. However, the automaker actually describes it as “an all-terrain high-bodied car.”
Of course, the Rolls-Royce of SUVs is meant to attract rich customers who are looking for a potent, very luxurious, and practical SUV. The automaker’s plan is to attract a younger generation of successful people who are right in the middle of the so-called experience economy.
The Cullinan features an opening hatch, called The Clasp. This in inspired by an era when luggage would be positioned outside of the car to create more space for the passengers. It is easily accessible with only one touch of the key fob button, opening up the 560 liters (19.77 cubic feet) of cargo space. When the rear seats are down, there will be a total of 1930 liters (68.15 cubic feet).
The most comfortable part of the car would probably be the rear seats, and this could be offered in two configurations. There is the Lounge Seat layout that is more functional and has space for three passengers in a bench style single seat. The other configuration would be the Individual Seat configuration that offers ultimate luxury with two separate chairs, with a massive rear center console in the middle that’s perfect for whiskey glasses, champagne flutes, and a decanter, as well as a refrigerator.
Speaking of seats, the driver’s seat is just as impressive, with heating and ventilation, making sure that the driver is perfectly acclimatized. It is also equipped with Rolls-Royce’s newest digital instrument cluster, and there is a touch sensitive display in a model from the automaker. The system can also be controlled through the controller on the center console.
A number of safety features and assist systems make the Cullinan the most technologically sophisticated model of its kind in the world. Some of the features include night vision system, a four-camera view system with panoramic view, all-around visibility, collision warning, cross traffic warning, helicopter view, lane departure, WiFi hotspot and many more. There are five USB ports for your devices too. Even mobile phones can be charged wirelessly.
When it comes to power, the Cullinan is equipped with a 6.75-liter biturbo V12 engine. It delivers just the right amount of torque of 627 pound feet (850 Newton metres) at 1,600 rpm. It has a peak power of 563 horsepower (420 kilowatts), that is channeled to all four wheels through the all-wheel drive system and all-wheel steering system.
It has a top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 miles per hour) with an electronic limiter. But we do not know its 0-62 mile per hour sprint.
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan has a starting price of $325,000 in the United States market.
