Rendering of 2019 VW Touareg sees it join the sleek SUV coupe trend

Volkswagen had decided that the 2019 Touareg will not be sold in the United States market. But luckily for European customers, they will be able to acquire the German marque’s new flagship SUV. Now, it has a bold new look as well as a more high tech cabin. It will also be offered with a number of engines, like a pair of turbocharged 3.0 liter diesel options. The 2019 model is definitely an upgrade.

As you have noticed, the industry’s new trend is more focused on coupe style SUVs. Therefore, the 2019 Touareg is not immune, and is simply just part of the trend - at least in the real world. Now, rendering artist Aksyonov Nikita has reimagined the new Touareg as a sleek coupe SUV, and it looks incredible. You may have noticed that we have featured many of Nikita’s works in the past.

When looking at the rendering, you would notice that it keeps the same design elements as those of the original model - from the front fascia, which includes the matrix style LED headlights, to the more defined grille, and lower vents. The wheels are pretty new, which seemed to have been borrowed from the Arteon sedan, complemented by its teal shade. It is actually out back where most of the restyled elements can be seen.

Moving over to the rear end of the vehicle, one would notice a more sloped rear design, similar to what the Lamborghini Urus and the upcoming Audi Q8 have. Because the Touareg shares the same structure as both these vehicles, we would like to think that it rides on VW Group’s MLBevo platform. We would not be surprised too if the mainstream model gets the same sleek treatment in real life.

From what we know, it has not been confirmed yet whether the VW Touareg will have a second body style. However, with the current coupe SUV trend, it will not come as a surprise if it did. What we do know is that the Touareg could get a hotter R treatment, along with some visual upgrades and a horsepower boost.

The 2019 Volkswagen Touareg has a number of features that should be highlighted. Some of these include safety, off road capabilities, while the others related to comfort and ride quality. But one of the main things that truly stands out is the new “Innovision Cockpit”, which combines a 12 inch driver’s display with a huge 15-inch touchscreen.

Aside from the gadgets, the VW Touareg lures buyers with its bigger body, giving it more cabin space, minus the extra weight. In fact, it has cut 106 kilograms (234 pounds) by opting for an aluminum body for almost half of the body’s construction.
