Alfa Romeo launches Alfa MiTo Live limited edition model

Article by Anita Panait, on April 24, 2013

Alfa Romeo has launched a new limited edition vehicle that combines both safety and technology -- the Alfa MiTo Live. Offered in only 250 examples, the Alfa MiTo has earned a 5 star Euro NCAP safety rating and was designed for drivers who yearn for connectivity and entertainment while on the move. The Alfa MiTo Live features a high fidelity BOSE sound system and Pioneer’s innovative AppRadio system that allows users to connect and access their smartphone’s apps through a seven-inch multi-touch screen.

The vehicle is powered by the TwinAir Turbo petrol engine, which delivers impressive fuel economy with carbon dioxide emissions of just 98g/km. The Alfa MiTo Live will also be offered with optional Marmalade telematics based cover, which potentially reduces insurance premiums by up to 50 percent. The Alfa MiTo Live has a starting price of just £16,590 OTR with extras that include 17” alloy wheels and rear tinted windows.

The Alfa MiTo Live could also be availed through competitive financing packages on Hire Purchase that start from 0% Hire Purchase with 45% deposit required. Damien Dally, Head of Brand at Alfa Romeo UK, remarked that the Alfa MiTo Live limited edition is a “true expression of the Alfa Romeo brand” as it combines technology with driving passion, in this case music.

He said that combining the Pioneer AppRadio with a BOSE sound system, delivers one of the best in-car entertainment packages around – at a price that will appeal to drivers of all ages. He noted that the Alfa MiTo Live is specifically targeted towards younger drivers who want to “stay connected and entertained on the move.”

In designing the Alfa Romeo MiTo, the objective was to get the highest score possible when it comes to active and passive safety tests. With this amount of protection, this means that this model may be one of the safest there is when it comes to motoring. Proof of this is that it has been awarded five stars by the Euro NCAP. This latest offering will be fitted with the most advanced electronic devices so that dynamic vehicle control is maximized, from braking all the way to traction.

Offered as standard on the whole line-up, this was included in order to enhance the dynamic limits even more. It is also guaranteed to be non-intrusive, especially to the driver, and makes sure that all-round safety is present. While the 2014 Alfa Romeo MiTo has a braking system which allows it to have exceptional performance levels, it has one of the most advanced anti-lock braking systems (ABS) there is.

This ABS also comes with the electronic brakeforce distribution, or EBD. Additional functions are the traction control systems (ASR) and the electronic stability (ESC). The 2014 Alfa Romeo MiTo will also be fitted with the assisted hill start system, HILL HOLDER. This system allows the engine braking to be controlled especially when accelerator pedal (MSR) is not pressed down.

It even has the Cornering Brake Control or CBC system. Rounding off this wide-ranging line-up is the Alfa Q2. It has an electronic system which mimics the action done by a self-locking differential. Further, it has the Alfa Active Steering, which is considered as “active electronic steering.” This helps the driver correct any oversteering, which simply needs a light impulse on the vehicle’s steering wheel, and typically occurs on poor-grip surfaces.
