All-new Smart Roadster to hit the dealerships in 2012, report says

The smart roadster will start to arrive at showrooms next year. It features a sleek design that will have no problems with blending in to the urban scenery. The arrival of the smart roadster will be fallowed closely by a new 4X4. Auto Express said that the smart has prepared the soft-roader model to compete with the MINI Countryman. From the looks of it, the new smart roadster seems to be inspired from the forspeed concept displayed at Motor Show in March.

Many of the features of the 2003 original model were carried over to the upcoming roadster. It also features I distinctive low profile, while featuring modern design touches like sculpted flanks.

The bulkier five-door crossover is inspired by the forfour supermini that was ended in 2006. This model has kept its trademark two-tone body, putting more emphasis on the central safety cell. It’s not likely though that the new 4X4 would be based on Mercedes’ new B-Klasse platform.

Nonetheless, the recent tie-up between Daimler and the Renault-Nissan alliance has led to a joint rear-drive platform that will be shared between the next fortwo and Renault Twingo.

No official details have been released but it’s believed that the new model will offer rear-mounted a 45/60 kW (61/82 PS) variants of the 3-cylinder turbocharged 698cc Suprex engine from Mercedes-Benz. This is actually not the first time that Smart Roadster is expected to stage a comeback.

The new generation smart fortwo launched in 2010 features a fresh look for the interiors, improved exteriors, and much more eco-friendly engines.

You certainly have your pick of colors for the exterior and you can opt for a matte finish. Meanwhile, you can get the tridion safety cell in white, and then opt for either blue or red from the soft top. You have daytime driving lights fitted with LED lamps, while the new alloy wheels are also customizable.

Inside, you have fresh colors and fabrics that complement the new cockpit design, giving the interior an elegant aura. You also have the cutting edge entertainment and communication systems.

The smart fortwo also has a top-of-the-line petrol engine. You can choose from the 45kW or the 52 kW engines that emit less than 100 grams per kilometer of carbon dioxide, setting a new standard.

The carmaker is ushering in its new model with a limited edition that features high-class equipment. The new generation two-seater is made even more beautiful and eco-friendly.

Marc Langenbrinck, managing director for smart, says that the company continues to work diligently in making their smart models better and more sought-after in just about every aspect. The latest smart fortwo is timely, attractive and stylish. It makes use of high quality materials, and the attention to detail is apparent.

It is also more comfortable and functional, Langenbrinck adds. What’s more, the smart fortwo offers several engines that customers could choose from. It also has a range of customization options that would satisfy all of their customers.

Fresh look for the exterior

Customers now have a wider assortment of colors for the new smart fortwo. Check out seven different paint colors for your exterior, including the new matt light green color and light blue metallic. You can also specify the colors for the front spoiler, the rear apron and the side skirts. The fuel filler cap will also sport the same color you choose for the body paint.

Smart is also giving customers more colors for the cabrio soft top colours. You can choose a red or a blue one. The tridion safety cell is in brilliant white, and so are the radiator grille and the door mirror surrounds. You can choose your own color combinations for a completely different and unique smart fortwo!

You can also opt to have the LED daytime driving lights fitted in. These lights are made even more beautiful by their details. The company also put out three 15-inch alloy wheels that you can choose from to further personalize your car’s design and style.

Harmonious interior with a light and relaxed ambience

The new generation smart fortwo features a redesigned interior and now has a spacious and fresh look. The instrument panel is covered with fabric and sports a new design.

There are also equipment features here that give emphasis to the details. Check out the new dials that have a contrasting dark central disc for the dashboard instruments and the instrument panel. You can also opt for fabric covered center armrest that can be folded away. The steering wheel has three spokes and leather covering. The steering wheel further features a trip computer and cruise control function as add-ons.

You can also have dimmable LED lights for the interiors. The ambient lighting helps to create a relaxing atmosphere.

All of these new stylings are complemented by a wide array of storage facilities and other practical details. There is a large storage box that you can opt for that fits the lower section of the center console. There is also an add-on glove compartment with clips for fastening your notes. Then you have the standard seat pockets found at the sides of all seats. And yet another comfort feature: the tailgate may be operated using only one hand.
