The already wild Aston Martin Vulcan just got wilder. This is all thanks to the performance upgrade package that was developed by AMR, which is the carmaker’s new performance brand. Introducing new Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro, an upgrade package that includes tweaks in aerodynamic and gearing.
When Aston Martin introduced the Aston Martin Vulcan at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, we already knew that this track-only supercar wasn’t an ordinary one. After all, Aston Martin conceived and engineered the Vulcan to deliver the much-desired driving excitement as well as surpass the performance of the carmaker’s Le Mans-winning race cars.
Aston Martin has already done a number of things to make sure that the owners of the only 24 examples of the Vulcan are able to enjoy a dynamic and intense driving experience. For instance, for the past two years, Vulcan owners have received step-by-step driver training from Aston Martin’s team of instructors like Darren Turner, an Aston Martin Racing works driver and three-time Le Mans winner. Owners also took part in exclusive driving events in Circuit of the Americas in the United States, Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Silverstone in the United Kingdom.
Powered by a 7.0-liter V12 engine that delivers 820 bhp, the Vulcan is simply amazing. A standard Vulcan already generates 3,150N of massive downforce when moving at speeds of 100 mph – a figure that already exceeds the 3,104N generated by the 2017 Le Mans-winning Aston Martin Racing Vantage GTE.
Now, the new Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro allows the customers to further enjoy their supercars, by increasing the downforce the Vulcan generates and making it more responsive than before. The package adds louvred panels above the front wheel arches and fits turning vanes on the underside of the huge front splitter. The package made the engine cover lighter by five kilograms. Likewise, the AMR Pro package adds a new massive rear wing with dual plane design and a 20-mm ‘Gurney’ flap. Slotted wing endplates are also added, featuring 15-mm Gurneys.
All of these aerodynamic tweaks resulted to a dramatic increase of downforce generated at 100 mph – 4,000N. Moreover, these tweaks enhanced the aerodynamic balance of the Aston Martin Vulcan, as it shifted its Center of Pressure forward, thereby improving not only traction and front-end grip, but also steering response.
Aside from these aerodynamic changes, the AMR Pro also shortened the gearing of the Vulcan, allowing for a more explosive acceleration between the corners.
Existing Aston Martin Vulcan owners could avail of the AMR Pro upgrade package, which will be installed by Q of Aston Martin Advanced Operations.
