Audi UK said that £41,020 OTR is the price for the limited edition 256PS A1 quattro. Audi would only build 19 left-hand-drive units intended for the UK. Order books officially open in early March.
There are already deposits seen at the UK Audi Centres for the broad majority of these excellent high performance subcompacts, which don’t just come with quattro all-wheel-drive, a bigger capacity 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine and rally-inspired styling.
It also gets an all-encompassing specification including equipment upgrades to the value of more than £11,000. Over 600 components were either reworked or replaced in creating the A1 quattro.
A single glance at the new Audi A1 quattro and one immediately gets a sense of this being a very special vehicle. This new version is longer at 13.08 ft. (3,987 mm) compared to the previous model. Width is at 5.71 ft. (1,740 mm) while height is 4.65 ft. (1,416 mm). While the body will only come in Glacier White metallic, the roof will have the high-gloss black paint.
On the front, the grate and frame of the grille have the same color as the roof while the wings, which are the curved bars found in the headlights, come in red. Still on the front, the bumper shows a more muscular appearance. The roof arch and grille as well as the rear hatch bear the quattro badges. Fitted to the body are the cast-alloy 8.0 Jx18 wheels which are also in Glacier White.
With an exclusive turbine design, the wheels in turn are fitted with the 225/35-series tires. The brake discs in the front have been internally vented, gripped using black calipers, and measure 12.28 in. (312 mm). The brand has revealed that the A1 quattro will be equipped with the ESP stabilization program which has a sport mode that can be activated or deactivated during a run on the tracks.
Though the roof extends into the two-color wing, the windows in the rear have been tinted. The use of black color helps highlight both the diffuser and the rear hatch. Tinted as well are the LED lights in the rear, and the bumper in this section has a rather unique appearance. The model’s exhaust system ends in a pair of dual tailpipes, one on the right and the other on the left, with both having a diameter of 3.94 in. (100 mm).
Much like the roof, the interior is dominated mainly with the sporty black color. Meanwhile the seats, as well as the armrests positioned on the door, are wrapped in Silk Nappa leather and have its seams in contrasting red. On the front, the S sport seats have bolsters that are more prominent with head restraints incorporated to it. The covers of its backrest meanwhile have the quattro badge on them.
All seats though have a multi-way adjustment. Back to the front, the center console’s lower part also come in the high-gloss black color. Under it, the pedal caps and the footrest are clearly made up of stainless steel. Even the floor mats have red seams. Also adorned with the A1 quattro badges are the door sill trims. On the rear section, the luggage capacity of this model is 7.42 cu. ft. (210 liters) but they can go as high as 30.37 cu. ft. (860 liters) if the seats in the rear are folded down.
