Audi cannot deny anymore what the fans want. That is why the luxury carmaker is bringing the Audi A3 TDI Sportback to the United States this summer. This would be the latest model joining the recently launched Audi A3 family as well as the TDI model lineup.
The Audi A3 TDI Sportback will have its US debut at the New York International Auto Show on April 16, 2015. It will be a premium-class compact hatchback that combines the utility of a crossover, the looks of a coupe, and impressive fuel efficiency. Thanks to its quality engineering and advanced features, customers can expect outstanding performance, functionality and driving dynamics.
Scott Keogh, President at Audi of America, remarked that the A3 TDI Sportback has an “incredibly passionate and loyal fan base,” noting that the latest version has been one of Audi’s most requested models since the new A3 family was announced. He added that the new A3 TDI Sportback will be a “stunning addition” to the A3 family.”
Audi is planning to introduce the all-new A3 family -- the Audi A3 Sedan, Audi A3 Cabriolet, A3 TDI clean diesel sedan, the performance-driven S3 Sedan and the A3 Sportback e-tron plugin hybrid (PHEV) – in the next 18 months. These new vehicles are touted by Audi as ones redefining the standards of the entry level premium market – by bringing in new technologies as well as detailed craftsmanship typical in larger flagship Audi sedans.
Thanks to 150hp 2.0 TDI clean diesel fitted within the Audi A3 TDI Sportback, drivers could expect outstanding fuel efficiency. The engine is mated to the standard 6-speed S tronic transmission, which offers reliable shifting flexibility and driving pleasure, with virtually no interruption to the power flow. The sportback option is now available in both the A3 e-tron PHEV and the A3 TDI – both arriving in the market next year.
The A3 e-tron is a good choice for eco-conscious drivers while the A3 TDI is for customer needing to travel long distance without worrying about the cost of fuel. The A3 will offer features like MMI technology, Audi drive select, 4G LTE connectivity and Bang & Olufsen audio. Customers would be delighted to discover that the new A3 family features the latest version of Audi connect, which includes picture navigation, Facebook and Twitter alerts, read-aloud news headlines, personalized RSS news feeds, and access to over 7,000 Web radio stations.
Audi has already sold over 37,500 TDI vehicles in the US since introducing the technology in the country in 2009. These diesel vehicles have been delivering an average of 30-percent better fuel economy and range than their gasoline counterparts, according to EPA fuel economy estimates.
Audi has already expanded TDI technology into five MY2014 models -- A6, A7, A8 L, Q5, and Q7. The technology has been proven to result to fewer trips to the fuel stations and boasts outstanding performance and lower carbon dioxide emissions compared to their gasoline counterparts in the US.
