Audi remains the leader in China and overtakes Bmw, Mercedes-Benz

If Mercedes-Benz is the leader in U.S. luxury-vehicle sales, it appears that Audi conquered the Chinese market in May as its new-car sales rose 44.2 percent to 36,278 cars last month. Bmw sales rose 30.8 percent to 25,500 while Mercedes-Benz keeps the third place with 16,529 units.

Moreover, Audi widened its lead in the first five months of the year in China and according to the latest reports, the German manufacturer sold 160,562 vehicles, while Bmw sold 125,800 vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz keeps the third place with 82,534 in the same period. Although this is only the fifth month of the year, we might say that Audi will keep its first position as the difference is way too big between the first and second positions.

For those who don’t know, Audi has quite a plan to boost its sales as it aims to achieve annual sales of 2 million cars by 2020 and become the leader. Back in 2011, Audi sold 1.3 million vehicles, while Bmw sold 1.38 million cars and SUVs. Mercedes-Benz sold 1.26 million.

Audi revealed that the A6, its executive flagship model, will be undertaking a redesign. The new design in particular makes it display elegance with athleticism. While it measures 16.14 feet (4.92 meters) long with a total width of 6.14 feet (1.87 meters), its height is merely 4.79 feet (1.46 meters). These sporty proportions alone reveal that it beats out the competition.

Giving it an even more dynamic overall look are the pronounce lines on the sides, sweeping and low roofline, and the long engine hood. For those who want the front section to have a more striking appearance, Audi is offering the use of LED for the headlights to get that effect. Aside from the sporty proportions, majority of the body is composed of high-tech steels and aluminum.

This not only makes it lighter but also stiffer and ultimately safer. In addition, because of the use of materials and methods that are truly advanced, noise levels on the interior are guaranteed to be low.

Further, the precision tuning of all the parts with the methodical hydraulic damping of its axle plus the drivetrain bearing resulted in the A6 being able to deliver exceptional vibrational comfort. In addition to the light body and the sporty chassis, the use of a wide range of multimedia systems and assistance systems ensures that the A6 comes with the best solutions in every aspect of technology.

Even the range of drivetrains and engines offered with this full-sized sedan is just as extensive. Audi even disclosed that it will be making available soon the highlight of this range which is the A6 Hybrid. It will have the power present in a V6 engine but will also show fuel efficiency typically expected from a 4-cylinder engine. The strong style of its exterior is mirrored in the interior and the amount of space that it offers.

The most striking aspect of the interior is known as the “wrap-around.” This is an inlay that surrounds both the driver and the passenger sitting in the front. With the way the dash panel has been gracefully curved, it puts the driver in the middle of the interior. Looking at the interior more closely, there is no doubt that each component is proof of how much care Audi puts into manufacturing automobiles.

All of the materials used, like the layered-wood veneer, have been chosen and then crated with the highest of precision. Audi is offering a lighting package which gives luxurious ambient lighting on the inside through small points of light. Offered as an option as well are the seats in the front having both massage and ventilation functions.
