GM unveiled today the Buick Envision SUV Concept, a new vehicle which previews future ideas and technology, which will make its world debut at the Auto Shanghai 2011.
According to the manufacturer, the new Envision Concept is described by five words: speed, power, lightness, strength and elegance. As you can see from the photos, the Envision features a two-layer traditional Buick waterfall grille, as well as porcelain-like daytime LED lamps with house five “Chinese pillar-like” LED bulbs.
The design is completed by the impressive 22-inch doubled-layered aluminum alloy wheels, as well as by the one-piece roof shaped like an arching bridge.
Regarding the color, Buick says that the Envision is inspired by the “yin and yang” concept, featuring a two-tone high-quality galaxy-blue. The interior features sand-beach white Italian leather and high-class maple and metallic materials with a velvety texture.
Under the hood, we find a PHEV plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 2.0-liter SIDI intelligent direct injection turbocharged engine paired to two electric motor generators in the dual automatic/manual eight-speed transmission.
Then the Envision is being started, parked and running at low speeds, it runs solely in electric power, but when it needs more power the petrol engine kicks in. The vehicle can be plugged into a standard outlet to recharge the battery. Additional electricity for the battery is produced by the solar roof.
When it comes to its interior, the Buick Envision is comfortable, has high-tech features, and is people-oriented. Complementing each other on the inside is the distinctly asymmetric central console and the brand’s trademark all-around 360-degree integrated design. Meanwhile the front cabin appears like a floating sculpture. As a result, it achieves the best balance when it comes to aesthetics and physical comfort.
Giving the interior that futuristic feel are the spiral gauges. A look at the color of the door and it is clear that it was the "yin and yang" concept that served as inspiration. When this is combined with the high-quality two-toned sand-beach white and galaxy-blue Italian leather and the high class metallic and maple materials that come with a velvety texture, these result in a look that one associates with elegance and peace.
Its shared armrest goes from the front and all the way to the back and even has a storage function as well as the hidden crafted air-conditioning vents. With the flat floor giving the feel as if one is aboard a yacht, this helps add to the comfort and spaciousness on the inside. Aside from the brand’s traditional ice-blue lighting, Buick will also be offering as an option a red "sportive" lighting and orange "casual" lighting. This allows it to provide a soft radiance and thus complete the mood of its surroundings.
