Bentley on track to a record year as global deliveries increase 19% in first 9 months of 2014

After nine months in to 2014, Bentley’s global deliveries increased by 19 percent to 7,786 cars, which is quite an improvement taking in consideration that in the same period last year, the company delivered 6,516 cars. China, Europe and Middle East are some of the best markets for Bentley by the Americas remain number one market.

According to the official press release, models such as the Continental GT V8 S coupe and convertible as well as the Flying Spur V8 are the new models which drove this international success. In the first nine months of this year, Bentley delivered 2,107 cars in the Americas, while China received 1,959 cars. Germany received 1,155 cars, while in the UK deliveries increased by 5 percent to 1,113 cars.

Meanwhile, Middle East saw a 21% increase to 720 cars. Asia Pacific region received 468 cars, which represents a 49 percent increase, while in Japan, 207 cars were delivered.

"We said at the start of the year that 2014 would be a record breaking year for Bentley and we are firmly on track to deliver on our promise. Certain markets are tough, as other luxury car brands can testify, but with our three model lines delivering a perfect blend of luxury and performance, alongside the international appeal that we have as a brand, it will ensure 2014 will go down as our best ever year."

Considered as the most stylish, luxury grand tourer in the world, Bentley Continental is furthering its appeal with a new sporty edition -- Bentley Continental GT V8 S. The addition to the Continental is expected to deliver more thrill, thanks to its uprated V8 engine with a distinctive audiotrack, sharper steering, 'S' signature styling cues as well as lowered and retuned sports suspension.

Available as both a coupe and convertible, the Continental GT V8 S offers a more engaging drive from the carmaker’s renowned 4-liter twin-turbo V8 powertrain. Bentley plans to unveil the new Continental GT V8 S Coupe and Convertible to the global public at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany.

Wolfgang Schreiber, Chairman and Chief Executive at Bentley Motors, called the Bentley Continental as the definitive grand tourer as it offers an excellent combination of effortless performance, all-wheel drive capability, generous space as well as handcrafted luxury. Schreiber quipped that the new Continental GT V8 S – with its sportiness – is suitable for customers seeking more drama and excitement.

Serving as the heart of the new Continental GT V8 S Coupe and Convertible is a more powerful version the 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine that could deliver up to 521 bhp (528 PS / 389 KW) of output at 6,000 rpm and up to 680 Nm (502 lb.-ft.) of torque at just 1,700 rpm.

This overwhelming power is sent to the wheels through a close-ratio ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, allowing the new GT V8 S to offer superb acceleration and intense performance. When the S mode is activated through the gear selector, the GT V8 S offers a sharper throttle response as well as faster gear shifts.
