BMW has a new model currently being considered for its "progressive" segment "GT" which will be a Premium Sports car fitted with four doors, not like a standard sedan, coupe shape.
It will be an evolution of a sports coupe as well as the first BMW Coupe that will come with a hatchback and four doors that open with hinges from the rear, a strict 4-seater with each passenger and driver positions separated by a large sweeping console.
The exterior design will follow with a different appearance to the 6er Coupe and Cabrio from which they derived their wide grill opening and headlamps sitting above the grill on either corner just like those found on the present CS Concept Car, even though not a direct derivation the resemblance is unmistakable.
From the side, the headlights appear to be intensely raked into the front wings to provide a more aggressive and sporting appearance, characteristic of the 6er flared wheel arches is untouched and will keep the 6er beefy proportions.
A connection to the latest 5er and 7er is provided by more sculpture at the lower flanks. A muscular shoulder line is a regular feature which inverts into the rear lights.
The car comes with an integrated bootlid providing an evolutionary appearance with the plate placed on the rear bumper. The engine lineup will remain like the current car including the Twin-Turbo Six Cylinder and the V8 of 326ps (635i) and 407ps (650i) correspondingly.
There will be two diesel options including a 6-cylinder diesel (635d) and the still in development and slated for this car the Tri-Turbo Six Cylinder diesel with 700Nm and 354ps. The carmaker will be offering later this year a mild hybrid for the X6 and 7-Series. Many thanks to Scott!
