BMW Group sets February record with 256,929 vehicles sold

The BMW Group posted a record-setting sales result for February 2013, logging a 7.1-percent year-on-year jump in sales to 256,929 vehicles. It was the best February result for the BMW Group ever, boosted by strong sales of its BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands around the world. The brands posted a 4.7-percent year-on-year surge in February 2013 sales to 133,630 vehicles.

BMW brand alone recorded more than 7-percent year-on-year increase in sales February 2013 to 114,908 vehicles. The brand also posted a 9.2-percent year-on-year increase in sales in the first two months of 2013, selling 222,207 vehicles compared to 203,546 units sold in the same period in 2012. Going strong in the first two months of 2013 was the BMW X1 with 23,118 units sold, reflecting 40.1-percent increase over 2012.

BMW 3 Series also logged a sterling performance in year-to-date period, selling 63,103 vehicles for an increase of 26.2 percent. Likewise having a solid sales performance in the first two months of 2013 is the BMW 5 Series, selling 47,157 vehicles for growth of 7.4 percent. The BMW 6 Series managed to log a superb feat in the first two months of 2013, selling 3,271 vehicles for an increase of 36.1-percent.

“In February the BMW Group achieved another healthy increase in sales and we intend to continue the positive development with exciting new models throughout the year”, said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Sales and Marketing BMW. Robertson continued: “With the new BMW 3 Series GT, which premiered this week at the Geneva Auto Salon, we are expanding our highly successful 3 Series range with an innovative new model for our customers.”

What's more, the new 6-Series Coupe's unmistakable design language gives it an aura of sporty elegance. Its short front overhang, sweeping bonnet, and set-back passenger compartment, along with a 74-mm increase in body length over its predecessor as well as a 75-mm longer wheelbase, create a BMW Coupe's hallmark proportions. Additionally, the new car's extra 39-mm width (at 1,894 mm total width) makes for a very powerful stance that highlights its impressive roadholding.

These enhanced dimensions are what make the vehicle's dynamic forward-surging presence as well as its promise of majestic driving capacity even more striking once they see the car. Its exterior styling is a faithful reflection of its character, which, in turn, is lent a special appeal by the lines that run along its body's full length and by its harmoniously curved surfaces.

These design features are inspired by the natural flow and movement of waves. Just like how flowing water is parted by a particular object, the car's shaping lines also fan out from the badge on the bonnet towards the sides of its body.
