BMW M3 stuns UAE with Competition Package and gorgeous Ferrari Red paint

Article by Christian A., on February 6, 2017

Something is brewing in the Middle East. BMW Abu Dhabi welcomes the brand new year with a bang by flaunting its own version of BMW M3. Known for its brightly colored BMW i8 models, BMW Abu Dhabi stays ahead of the game for giving its customers what they want. Just a few months ago, they created the most interesting plug-in hybrid sports cars decked in Lava Yellow, Lava Orange, Twilight Purple, Lava Green, Austin Yellow and Lava Red paint colors.

Though pricing details are still unknown, we bet the new M3 would also cost a fortune. Dressed in Ferrari Red and Competition Package, we can’t deny that it looks hot for the season ---- and it’s probably the priciest and fully loaded M3 performance sedan you could find right at this very minute.

What the dealer from the UAE had on its showroom is definitely a far cry from the M3s we’ve seen last year. Other than the red body paint, the most notable of all the upgrades is the 450hp, 3.0 litre twin turbo engine under the hood. Sure, it didn’t come all the way from Maranello Italy, but it has Ferrari’s spirit of performance at the very least. Paired with 7-speed dual clutch transmission, it can run from 0-62mph in about 4 seconds with a top speed of 163mph.

The Competition spec not only provides the BMW M3 with improved steering, suspension and chassis, it also has M ceramic brakes, 20-inch alloy wheels and sports tailpipes to go with it. This new upgrade on the chassis now comes with recalibrated anti-roll bars, dampers and springs. In addition, the Performance kit includes carbon fibre mirrors, a compact bootlid lip spoiler and aerodynamically enhanced fascia with black shiny grille at the front. The absence of the rear wing is nevertheless compensated by the discreet but elegant spoiler design. Instead of the usual M performance upgrades, the M3 is equipped with Akrapovic Evolution exhaust and rear diffuser sets.

Inside, the M3 also boasts a lot of carbon fibre inlays aside from the black leather with red stitching that goes perfectly well with the red painted exterior. Think of red accents along the door panel, dashboard as well as on the black leather seats. The seats meanwhile are made more lightweight as derived from the BMW M4 GTS in North America.

One thing’s for sure, the Competition Package isn’t just for improving the M3’s overall aesthetics. The guys at BMW Abu Dhabi know how to do their business by combining beauty with performance. But if we have a choice for a different color, we’d still want the same Ferrari Red paint from the Individual catalogue. What’s your pick?
