Bmw has finally unveiled the M4 Coupe Concept, the successor of the iconic M3 Coupe. As you can see from the photos, the design of the new car is quite impressive and the M4 Concept suggests power without being ridiculous. Although it is a concept version, the new car gives a good indication of the production model, which will go on sale next year.
Finished in Aurum Dust colour (developed exclusively for this model), the new M4 shows continues the Bmw M’s design language and features CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastics) elements such as the front splitter, the roof, or the rear diffuser that underline the optimized lightweight concept down to the smallest detail.
Viewed from the side, the M4 Coupe Concept has muscular wheel arches and flowing roofline, as well as a redesigned M gill. This characteristic M design element constitutes a both sporty and functional statement as on the M4 Concept the M Gills incorporate the Air Breather, which together with the Air Curtain within the front apron serves to ventilate the wheel arches and facilitate better airflow values.
The design is completed by the exclusive bicoloured 20-inch M light alloy wheels featuring the typical M double spoke design. The rear end design gives another visual indication of the car’s supreme power featuring carbon fiber tailpipes and a carbon fiber air diffuser. Although there are no official details yet, 4WheelsNews learned that the upcoming M4 Coupe will use a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine developing 450 hp and 550 Nm of torque.
It is quite easy to tell that the new BMW Concept M4 Coupe offers superior performance, thanks to its muscular wheel arches and the dynamic expressive surface language.
The sporty design of the new BMW Concept M4 Coupe is made more apparent by a flowing roofline, while the car’s innovative design is highlighted by the contoured roof made from visible CFRP. This CFRP roof doesn’t just make the BMW Concept M4 Coupe lighter, but also lowers the car’s center of gravity, resulting to a sportier driving experience. This is just one of the instances where the carmaker was able to optimally fuse form and functionality in BMW M’s manner.
This coupe-like roofline elegantly flows into concept’s muscular rear end, with the roof’s contour seemingly fused with the tail of BMW Concept M4 Coupe. Moreover, a rear spoiler lip has been integrated into the trunk lid for optimum downforce, thereby lending the BMW Concept M4 Coupe better downforce figures as well as making it appear larger, longer and sportier. Sitting below the spoiler lip is a muscular sill that underscores the concept’s sporty on-the-road stance.
On its flanks, the new BMW Concept M4 Coupe is marked by the redesigned M gill, a signature M design element that underscores its sportiness and functionality. As placed on the Concept M4 Coupe, these M gills come with the Air Breather that – along with the Air Curtain within the front apron – helps ventilate the wheel arches while allowing for better airflow. The concept rides on bi-colored 20-inch M light alloy wheels with the M double spoke design (filigree double-spokes). The concept also features M Carbon ceramic brakes.
