The BMW Group will showcase its BMW ConnectedDrive technology and disclose its future plans for highly automated driving at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show that will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from 10:00 a.m. PST on January 7, 2014, until 12:00p.m. PST on January 9, 2014. BMW will also showcase the BMW i3 at the show.

BMW ConnectedDrive links the driver, the vehicle and the outside world via a range of assistance systems, as well as infotainment and entertainment features. BMW ConnectedDrive’s Driver Assistance systems include navigation and traffic assistance and concierge services. The BMW i Remote app, meanwhile, allows drivers to share information with the vehicle any time, even the amount of charge on a BMW vehicle.

The Apps for Automotive technology by BMW allows drivers to employ smartphone applications to link with the car while being able to send text messages via voice or text. BMW ConnectedDrive also allows easier control of entertainment options without losing focus on the road.

BMW Group will also unveil at 2014 CES the details of its current research and development project for highly automated driving, which is meant to increase safety, comfort and efficiency for the driver and traffic system. The carmaker will also disclose a collaboration with a consumer electronics company at the CES. [source: BMW Group]
