Bmw X5 gets new features for the 2012 model year

The BMW X5 will be offered with enhancements this fall, at the same time as the X3. While the X3 range will be expanded with the arrival of the BMW X3 xDrive20i and the BMW X3 xDrive35d, the X5 range will be getting more equipment options, new exterior colors (such as Citrine Black Metallic) and the choices of light alloy wheels will be expanded. In addition, the BMW X5 Sport Package will come with the new M leather steering wheel with integrated gearshift paddles.

The BMW Individual extended Merino leather trim is presently offered with the choice of Amaro Brown while the BMW Individual designation is still featured in the door sill finishers.

BMW said that the X5 Exclusive Edition model will be available starting this autumn, with the Platinum Bronze Metallic exterior finish. It will also have the front door sill finishers that have the BMW Edition designation and the rear sills that have the BMW lettering.

Its interior is improved with the BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite, the wood trim in dark Bamboo grain, as well as black floor mats that feature oyster-colored edging. Its front sport seats are upholstered in Nevada leather Oyster that have black contrasting seams.

Drivers can adjust the heating of the electric seats for utmost comfort. The Exclusive Edition is a new option for the new 20-inch light alloy wheels with Y spoke styling. The BMW X5 xDrive30d will be equipped with BMW BluePerformance technology and will comply with all the requirements of the EU6 exhaust emissions standard.

Highlighting the agility and strong presence of the X5 is the body design that shows off its stable proportions. On each of the sides stretch the powerful horizontal lines. Meanwhile, the hood’s surface moves effortlessly to the waistline. The door handle meanwhile has that pronounced contour line which starts from the arches of the front wheel and goes all the way to the rear.

These same lines display the presence, stability, and power, of the X5. At the back and on top of the bumper in the rear are horizontal lines in parallel that divide this portion. As such, it helps highlight the sporty abilities of this model, including its width. The fitting of the taillights follow an L-shape and each of which has a pair of LED light banks resulting in the rear portion having that trademarked nighttime look expected from BMW.

On the front, the kidney grille combined with the curved hood and the dual round headlights result in the X5 having a front end that is more expressive and thus capable of emphasizing presence and power. While the X5 does have a new interpretation, this is underscored by the placement of the fog lamps and how the front fascia has been redesigned. That the X5 has a lower appearance from the front end is mainly due to the number of elements painted in the same color as that of the body. The bottom edge of the body meanwhile still has that black trim though this has been made narrower.

Increasing the output of the engine are the central air intakes and the outer air intakes, both have been made larger. On the whole breadth of its central air intake is the silver protection plate with a matte finish that highlights the muscular qualities of this model and emphasizes its new character. Its Xenon Adaptive dual-round headlights, and even fog lamps, are positioned closer and higher to its kidney grille. The fixtures of the headlights put emphasis on the athletic characteristics and high quality. Present as well are the corona rings that function as both daytime driving lights and position lights. Going to the rear, the apron complements the front end and its graphic structure.

Its dual exhaust pipes has its surrounds following a more elaborate design and having the same color as that of its body, helping display its premium qualities. In the middle of this is the silver protection element and with its matte finish that displays the durability and strength of the X5, making it apt even for off-road.

The visual improvements are enhanced even further with BMW providing new color choices. These include Platinum Grey, Sparkling Bronze, and Sea Blue. For the interior, the Nevada Leather offered can come in Cinnamon Brown or Oyster. There are wood trims offered which include Brushed Aluminum, Burl Walnut, Dark Bamboo, and Light Poplar. However should customers decide not to avail of this, there are also other choices for the interior trim strips with is Black, Sand Beige, and matte Satin Silver.

The X5 has a front end and rear portion that strikes a good balance. This is made possible by the use of the light-alloy wheels, the short overhang in the front and rear, and the long wheelbase. Its wheel arches are flared and with its square shape, provides clues as to its other-roads capability and all-wheel drive traction. The X5 continues to have the well-known driving dynamics BMW is known for and this is because of the almost perfect 50-50 distribution of the front and the rear.
