Cadillac will unveil its next generation Escalade at an auto show within the next 12 months, as implied by the carmaker’s marketing chief Don Butler. However, the redesigned big sports utility vehicle is not expected to reach showrooms until late 2013. Cadillac is known for implementing methodical ways to achieve nimble performance, and the Escalade is expected to provide drivers with a statement – thanks to its body-on-frame strength and dynamic looks.
Cadillac has a wide range of options to offer to its customers with its fast-expanding vehicle lineup. For instance, according to Butler, customers who want no-compromises, the biggest, the most comfortable, and the fiercest-looking vehicle on the road could settle for the Cadillac Escalade.
For customers who want to make a technological statement and associate with a carmaker that’s environmentally responsible, they could opt to choose the Cadillac ELR, the company’s future plug-in hybrid sports car due to be unveiled in 2013, Butler said. As for the next generation Escalade, interested buyers could expect a modestly better fuel economy, without experiencing compromised built and weight.
The next generation Escalade will probably get an eight-speed transmission. Industry sources expect the big SUV to still be underpinned by General Motors’ truck and SUV platform, in contrast to the current trend of most carmakers replacing body-on-frame SUVs for unibody platforms. By remaining on a rugged truck platform, the Escalade could beef up its face value.
Ever since it was launched by Cadillac, the Escalade has become the yardstick when it comes to luxury SUV. No arguments there as its capabilities are truly powerful and wrapped up in a bold design. Accommodations have that luxury feel to it and it can seat a maximum of eight people. Since its introduction, three generations have followed making customers bestow it with the icon status.
With brand currently undergoing a product expansion, the 2015 Escalade utilizes a number of design elements and technical features in order to bring this signature SUV to a whole new level. The range will be composed of the base model and the extended-length ESV edition. The latter in particular will have overall length extended by 20 inches (508 mm) with the wheelbase being made longer as well by 14 inches (355 mm).
This means that space for those sitting in the third row is maximized with the cargo space at the back of it larger by 60% compared to the previous version. New features on the interior include materials that have been wrapped as well as cut-and-sewn. For those who want authenticity and elegance, wood trim options are offered. Meanwhile the seats were designed to have a sculpted look while offering more comfort.
The combination of an improved acoustic material, the use of the Bose Active Noise Cancellation technology, and the new body structure, resulted in an interior that is clearly quieter. On the outside, the surfaces are more sophisticated and crisp. These are highlighted by the lighting which utilizes LEDs.
Aside from offering customers the choice to have the 2WD drivetrain, or even the 4WD version, the 2015 Escalade will be fitted with the new 6.2-liter V8 engine, more powerful and even more efficient compared to the prior generations.
Fitted as standard will be the Magnetic Ride Control. This is considered by many as the fastest-reacting suspension system in the world and is able to offer driving performance that is more precisely controlled. The 2015 Escalade will be manufactured at the Arlington, Texas facility with production slated to start by the spring of 2014.
