Chevrolet has signed a five-year partnership deal with British football giant Manchester United to become the club's Official Automotive Partner. Details of the five-year sponsorship agreement will be disclosed at an event at the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum today, to be attended by representatives from Chevrolet, Manchester United and other guests.
The event was set at 8 p.m. China Standard Time. According to General Motors Global Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick, Chevrolet is proud to partner with Manchester United and has pledged to put the club’s fans at the centre of everything the company does. David Gill, chief executive of Manchester United, said that although Chevrolet and Manchester United are part of two very different industries, they share many values.
He said that both Chevrolet and Manchester United have a deep history and both global brand. He added that both Chevrolet and Manchester United are striving to the best in their fields. With that, Gill expressed delight in welcoming Chevrolet as the club’s Official Automotive Partner.
Richard Arnold, Manchester United commercial director, meanwhile said that Chevrolet’s commitment to football and plans to bring their fans closer to the club is “very exciting for [the club].” Arnold noted that this is the first time that Manchester United partnered with a U.S. carmaker, adding that he hopes that the partnership will allow the club to further expand its fan base in the United States.
