Award-winning fashion brand, Gio-Goi, has teamed up with Citroën to produce a limited edition shoe derived from Citroën’s DS3 Racing, which is a high-performance variant of the striking supermini developed by six-time World Rally Champion winning team Citroën Racing.
The high-top shoe is dubbed as DS3 Racing Shoe by Gio-Goi and takes design inspiration from the vehicle’s high quality materials. The shoe also takes inspiration from the vehicle’s visual cues like the sporty orange grille as well as the sculpted 18-inch alloy wheels.
Moreover, the shoes are finished with the vehicle’s striking black-and-orange color scheme. It uses black tumbled full-grain leather with a waxy finish to provide the shoe with a soft, luxurious feel. In addition, the soft leather lining, flexible rubberized sole as well as the foam padded tongue enhance the comfort of the shoe to ensure that it flexes perfectly with the foot’s movement while driving.
The combination of black mesh and black leather on the collar was derived from the vehicle’s leather seats. On the other hand, the pattern on the sole is a re-interpretation of the curves found in the alloy wheels and the grid pattern located in the front of the vehicle. For a finishing touch to the stunning high-tops, Gio-Goi branded lace-tips in a choice of two distinct colors is added.
Indeed, the S3 Racing Shoe by Gio-Goi is a purely limited edition line of footwear since only 100 pairs are bound to be made and only a few will be sold at Gio-Goi’s Web site (www.gio-goi.com/ds3racing) and at a pop-up store located in East London, which will be open only on September 13, 14 and 15. Each pair of shoes could be purchased at a recommended retail price of £120. Adam Ward, Footwear Designer for Gio-Goi, described the partnership between Gio-Goi and Citroen DS3 Racing as perfect and synonymous with the fast pace of urban life. He remarked that his inspirations for the design of the shoes were the car’s distinct lines, its flashes of color and high-tech details as well as luxury comfort. Jo Bohling of Gio-Goi quipped that the DS3 Racing Shoe by Gio-Goi is for people who like to live their lives in the fast lane. He added that these uniquely designed limited edition footwear has been inspired by the car’s performance and the Gio-Goi attitude.
Mark Lloyd, Chief Designer of Citroen’s International Projects, noted that while Citroen DS3 Racing was designed to convey performance, style and exclusivity, the signature shoes from Gio-Goi are a perfect complement with its great design. Citroen DS3 Racing is a special edition car developed by Citroen Racing, which had grabbed six WRC Manufacturers’ titles and seven Drivers’ titles (Sebastien Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena).
DS3 Racing is a great blend of sporting heritage, racing-inspired design, bold styling, and high-level equipment specs and premium materials. It is powered by a turbocharged engine that could develop 207hp of max output, could travel 44.1 miles on a gallon of fuel and emit only 149 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer. It has the ability to sprint from zero to 62mph time in just 6.5 seconds.
More than two decades since its inception, the Gio-Goi brand has proven itself to be more than competent to be at the forefront of the fashion world.
